CHAPTER 54

Thursday after their last exam Megan and Brianna treated themselves to a nice lunch and a trip to the mall. “I need something new to wear when I go out to see Nick. Help me find something Meg?”

“So you’re definitely going? You’ve talked with your parents and everything?”

“Well… Not exactly. I talked briefly with my Mom, but I’m going out to see them this weekend. But, I’m sure they’re gonna agree to it.”

“And what about this Mitchell guy?” Megan was teasing her.

“What about him? We had dinner and talked. I told you all this already. It’s nothing.”

“Nothing yet, anyway. He’s cute and he lives here.”

“Nick lives close, sort of.”

“Yeah, but he’s always on the road. I know you too are close, that he’s special to you. But even if something was to come of what ever you two are playing at, do you really want that? I mean with him gone all the time?”

“Megan…”

“Don’t get me wrong. I like Nick. He’s gorgeous as hell and he treats ya good. Nice guys like him are few and far between. But maybe this Mitchell is a nice guy too, and how convenient that he lives right here in town?”

“Megan, nothing is going on with either of them right now, okay. You’re right, Nick is special to me, and no matter what happens he will always be an important part of my life. But, I just don’t know what is going on between us, and I can’t make any decisions either way about anyone else until things are more settled or definite.”

“Okay, okay. I can respect that. Just as long as you are happy. Hey, I bet we can find something in here for your trip.” Brianna looked up just as Megan was dragging her into Victoria’s Secret.

“Noooooo.” But it was no use. When Megan gets determined about something there is no fighting it.

Later that night Brianna was unpacking the bags from the mall and putting things away. She had wound up getting something from Victoria’s, but much to Megan’s chagrin it wasn’t something slinky and see through. Hanging up a matching skirt and top she heard her phone ringing.

“Hello?”

“Hi. How’d your day go?” It was Mitchell.

“Hi there. It went good. Great actually because finals are now over with. Megan and I celebrated by going shopping.”

She could hear him softly laughing on the other end of the line. “Well then I’m happy for ya. I guess you have some time off before your next set of classes start, huh?”

“Yep, a few weeks. Man I am so happy about that.”

“Well I was thinking, maybe as a treat for finishing your classes you’d like to go to the beach on Saturday?”

“Oh I’d love to, but I can’t. I’m going to spend the weekend with my parents. I’m so sorry. Maybe we can another time?”

“Yeah, I understand. When are you leaving to go to your parents?”

“Saturday morning. They only live about an hour away.”

“Well, how about tomorrow? Can you go then?”

“Yeah, I can do that. The beach sounds great? Which one?”

“Doesn’t matter, it’s your treat, your choice.”

“Crescent?”

“Crescent it is, then. I’ll be there by 7a.m. Can you be ready to leave by then?”

“Oh absolutely. I’ll be ready to go.”

“See if your friend wants to go, I’ve got a friend coming along too.”

“Great. I’m sure she’d love it. We’ll be here and ready. Do I need to bring anything?”

“Just yourself. I’ll see you tomorrow. Have a good night.”

“You too. See you tomorrow.”
