November 3-Beck Seventh Debuting New Car at Caraway
After running most of the race in the top five, Jason was pleased with a strong run in a new car at Caraway Speedway. He hopes to run the car in 2008 and plans on making it even better over the off season. Beck ran in third or fourth for the majority of the race, before falling back to seventh in the 11-car field on the last lap when a car spun in front of him. Despite the mid-pack finish, Jason feels with a little work the Chevrolet Cavalier will be a winner next season. "I'm sure this car will win a race next year, as good as it ran tonight without even working on it," Beck said after the race. "The car was tight because the tow was not set right, but we'll come back next year and handle great."
September-27-Beck Finishes Second; Ends Season at Wake County
Jason ran only inches from the lead at several points during the race but failed to bring home the victory, finishing second to late model and modified racer Barry McCaskill in the season ending U-Car event. After getting passed by McCaskill for the lead on lap three it looked as though the veteran would walk away with the win easily, but Jason gave McCaskill all he could handle. McCaskill and Beck ran side by side swapping the lead for most of the race, but it ended up being McCaskill who brought his B & B Fab works car home to the win just ahead of Jason in his U-Turn to Jesus EXP. Jason overcame battery problems before the race to finish second. Calvin Hicks ended up driving a different car than he had planned after a hard crash in practice destroying his primary car. Hicks Finished third behind McCaskill and Beck.
September 9- Beck Finishes 8th in Season's Biggest Race
The Wall's Roofing U-Car money race drew the largest field of the season at Wake County Speedway, and for Jason Beck the night started out promising. Beck drew the pole for the first heat race of the evening and led the first lap before being passed by East Carolina Motor Speedway regulars Ronnie Devera and Clayton Farmer. Beck finished fourth in the heat race and would start seventh in the 35-lap feature. When the green flag dropped, Beck settled in for the long race, holding his position until contact with the lapped car of Kevin Riggoty damaged the tow on his #18 U-Turn to Jesus EXP. Beck struggled with the handling for the rest of the race, and was nearly lapped before a late race caution bunched up the field. Beck cruised home in eighth place, the highest finishing Wake County Speedway regular in the field.
June 15- After Leading, Beck Suffers 2nd DNF
After leading much of the first half of the race from the pole, Jason's night was ruined by another man's misfortune. After pulling ahead to nearly a half lap lead, it seemed pretty definite Jason was going to win his second race of the season. However, the caution flew due to another driver's blown engine, re-bunching the field. On the restart, Jason hit oil on the track and was struck by 2nd place Phillip Daniels. After the incident, Jason was working his way back through the field, but the previous contact had damaged the electrical system in the car, ending the race two laps early for the Dunn driver. "I really thought I had the field covered tonight," Jason said following the race. "I've never driven a car and had that much of a lead on the competition. "I went into turn 1 after that restart and I knew the oil was still on the track, but I felt like I had to go hard or I'd be passed for the lead by Phillip," he said. "I went into the corner and felt the car get sideways and I gathered it back up, but when the 07 car hit the oil, he slid into my drivers door and really did me in." Jason will again take to the .23 mile Wake County Speedway on July 13 for another U-Car feature. Check back soon for further schedule announcements.
June 8- Jason Settles for Second at Wake County
Another start in the rear of the field left Jason wondering what would have happend if the pill draw would have went differently. Beck easily drove to second place but ran out of time in the closing laps, finishing second to Phillip Daniels.
May 25- Beck Cruises to Top-3 at Wake County
After starting near the rear of the field, Jason marched to third but ran out of laps before he could take the checkered flag. Finishing behind Junior Edmundson, one of the fastest U-Car drivers in the Southeast, Jason was pleased to pass more than half the field on Wake County's difficult high groove.
May- 6 Beck Struggles at Caraway
It was the first daytime race of the year for Jason Beck racing, and the team missed the setup mightily. Jason struggled to bring the car home and had to settle for a finish outside the top 10.
May 4- Good Run Ends in Frustration for Beck
Jason's second race of the year at Wake County Speedway looked promising. After running second for several laps, contact with fellow racer Calvin Hicks sent Jason into the wall with less than five laps remaining. The crash gave Jason his first DNF of the season.
April 20- Beck Wins at Wake County!
Jason Beck claimed his first victory of the 2007 season on April 20, during the first ever U-Car race at the historic Wake County Speedway. Beck led from wire to wire in what proved to be a boring race but a welcome victory for Beck. "I don't get to do this often, so I have a lot of people I want to thank," said Beck in victory lane following the race. "First off I just want to thank Jesus, that's what's on the side of the car and that's what this is all about, I want to give glory to God. I want to thank my grandpa at Dale's Maintanence and Ron Peed at Sugar Daddy's Ice Cream in Angier. The team is hoping for more competition at the next race at Wake County on May 4, as the new division catches on. U-Car racing is an inexpensive form of stock car racing featuring relatively stock cars. As of this week, even more cars have registered to run the season at Wake County, making Beck's next trip to victory lane a greater task.
Beck Starts New Team With Religious Theme
As a Christian, there is no better feeling than to share one's faith. Jason Beck is mixing that passion with his love of auto racing to help spread the good news. This year, Jason started the U-Turn 2 Jesus campaign, a sponsorship logo on the side of his new U-Car racer. Beck, an experienced driver at Caraway Speedway said he is hoping to use his new decal to get other people thinking about what is important in life. Formerly Beck was involved in a team called Psalms 23 Racing. Beck knows without God, there is no way anything would work. "I have been so blessed. All my life I have wanted to race cars," he said. "I realized that without God's help I could never race. That is why I'm giving thanks to him."
