I have a lot of ideas, but that is all they would be if I did not have
Cathy Knudtson to bring them to life. There are no words to say
how much I think of her, or what she means to me and my
family. One thing I do know, she was sent by God.  All I can says is,
Thank you Cathy.

Joe (Papaw) Anderson

Sad to say there are no photos of Mr. William's last birthday party. The reason is because his Mommy was taping it on her camcorder because Papaw and Nanny hired a man by the name of Tommy Rash, who billed himself as a "Professional Peddler of Fun, Frolic & Foolishness".  At that time Mr. William was into magic, big time. This was what he was going to do when he grew up. "Papaw I will make you float in the air", he would tell me.  This was the first and only birthday party Mr. William ever had on time, so Nanny and I wanted it to be very special.  Mr. Rash also did magic shows, so this is what we had him do.  Mr. William, of course, was the star.  It was the best time he ever had.  He and Mr. Rash just took to one another right away.  At the end of the show, he asked the other kids if they would like to see him turn Mr. William into a rabbit.  The kids all yelled "YES, YES".  I could tell when Mr. William looked over at me, he was not to sure about this trick.  What happened was Mr. Rash unrolled a shade with a rabbit on it in front of Mr. William.  Everyone laughed, but I saw a real look of relief on Mr. William's face.  He later told me he was a little worried. He said "Papaw I like rabbits, but I don't want to be one".  So you can see this image that Terri has made has a little magic in it.  Thank you Terri.

While Mr. William was only with us a short time, he did more, accomplished more and touched more lives and hearts than anyone could ever imagine. Please join us now as we celebrate the life of Mr. William.

Mr. William is given a Wal-Mart cap and vest.  In less than a week, the associates at Wal-Mart, Peace Haven Baptist Church (Mr. William's Church), Wilkes Regional Medical Center and the lab where Mr. William's Mommy worked, Harley Riders at Tyson Foods and many other churches around town raised around $7,000 in cash and tickets to Carowinds, Tweetsie Railroad, which came from Key City Furniture, along with $300.00 spending money for Mr. William.  The workers at Coca Cola Bottling Company donated more tickets to Carowinds, so not only the whole family, but some of Mr. William's playmates, could also go.  There is no way that we will ever be able to thank all of the people who made this possible, but we will keep on trying. There was also enough to send Mr. William, his sister, his Mom and Dad to Disney World.

This was a party held for Mr. William by the associates at our local Wal-Mart in early July, 1999. They raised funds to send Mr. William to Carowinds at Charlotte, NC and to the North Carolina Zoo at Ashboro, NC. They also got tickets for the whole family.

Mr. William at his favorite place, Chuck E. Cheese. Papaw, this is where a kid can be a kid and a Papaw a Papaw.

Mr. William and Kristi are petting a special rabbit from another country.  I have forgotten which one. This trip was made possible by a special lady at the Wal-Mart store in Ashboro where the North Carolina National Zoo is located.  When we got to the zoo, a special guide was waiting for us with a special car in which were were taken to every place in the Zoo.  Had it not been this way Mr. William and Kristi would have been able to see only about one third of the Zoo.  We never knew who the lady was, but I want her to know that we thank her from the bottom of our hearts.  Mr. William  had been to the zoo a couple of times before with his Mommy and one of his dreams was to take his Papaw to the zoo.

Mr. William playing kickball with the doctors and nurses at the doctor's office.  No one could get the ball by him.  This was early October, 1999.

This photo is very special.  This is the one that is one his name plate.  We did not have anything to go by except a wallet size.  We talked to Miss Erwin, the school principal and she got in touch with the photographer who did the pictures for the school and explained why we needed more photos.  They sent us 8, 8x10's, 5x7's and about 50 wallet photos.  We will never run out of photos.

Mr. William only went to Kindergarten for about 2 months, but Mrs. Story gave him his Diploma just as if he had been there all year.  When she mailed this to me I was overcome with joy and pride.  She will never know what this meant to our family.

This one also meant the world to me.  We never expected it, but here was the school yearbook and at the bottom of the page "In Memory Of Our Friend William Anderson". The first photo on the page (with the heart next to it) is Courtney, Mr. William's sister.  He was very proud of his sister and loved her with all his heart.
