(Or...in pursuit of my nerd self)
I´m
up late, as usual.
Brushing my teeth.
A habit that can take quite some time nowadays, due to
my braces.
So it´s good to have this to keep me occupied.
Coming to think of it, I usually have my breakfast by the
computer as well.
Starting the day out with computers and finishing it off the
same way.
But having breakfast is boring.
Not to mention brushing my teeth.
So instead of just sitting/standing there eating/brushing, I´m
here.
So why does it make me feel like
A
nerd...I was called that not half an hour ago on IRC
today.
A Computer Nerd.
Do anyone of you know what that word comes from and
why we use it?
Here´s a bit of trivia;
In the 1970´s, people at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of
Technology), started to use the word "knurd" (which is
"drunk" spelled backwards) to refer to persons that would
never drink alcohol.
Knurd became nerd (yeah, just say it out loud) and here
we are.
So, technically, a nerd is someone who doesn´t drink.
I guess that makes me one.
But I can live with that.
Just
don´t like the thought of it.
Why would it make you a geek if you like computers
and Internet?
Why does it mean you don´t have a life anymore?
As long as people feel that what they are doing makes
sense to them, who are we to judge them?
"I do not look down on niggers,
kikes, wops or
greasers. Here you are all equally worthless!"

And so we are...
Moreover,
I´m doing a lot of e-mailing these days.
I probably spend about three hours a day, just typing
them.
But then on the other hand, I get the same amount of
time invested in mails sent to me.
And it feels nice to know that somebody spends that
amount of time...
For me.
