Bart falls in love with Reverend Lovejoy's daughter, Jessica. When she fails to notice him, he re-enrolls in Sunday School and sits next to her, hoping to impress her with good behavior. However, his efforts prove fruitless. When Skinner catches Bart in a detetion sting operation, Jessica takes pity on him and invites him over for dinner.

During dinner with the Lovejoys, Bart uses the word "butt" and is promptly kicked out of the house. Jessica, however, likes Bart's bad behavior and joins him in committing acts of vandalism throughout town. Bart discovers that he is no match for Jessica and gets into trouble for things she talked him into doing. As the Reverend's daughter, she is never suspected, even when she steals money from the church collection plate.

Bart is blamed for the theft and becomes a pariah. Determined not to allow her brother to take blame for something he did not do, Lisa addresses the congregation and urges them to search Jessica's room, where they find the money. Jessica admits her guilt explaining that all she wanted was attention.
