In order tp generate more income to pay for his extravangant lifestyle, Krusty opens a clown college. Homer sees a billboard advertising the college and, obsessed by ti, enrolls to learn the secrets of the trade from the master himself.

The grueling schedule of his second job as "Krusty the Clown" runs Homer ragged. Just as he is about to quit, Chief Wiggum tears up a speeding ticket because he thinks that Homer is the real Krusty. People all over Springfield also beleive that Homer is Krusty, and Homer takes advantage of all the perks, until mobster Fat Tony and his gang try to collect on Krusty's gambling debt.

Homer tries to tell the gangsters who he really is, but they ignore him. Their leader, Don Vittorio, tells Homer that his life will be spared if he performs the "Spin Cycle Fantstique" bicycle trick. Homer fails the stunt. When the real Krusty arrives to settle his debt, Vittorio orders them to do the trick together. They succeed with extra flair and Vittorio spares their lives.
