Facts About the USA
It is thought that the the first people in the Americas came from east Asia over a land bridge to Alaska (now the Bering strait). It is thought the movement occurred during the ice age (between 25,000 and 10,000 years ago). Human artefacts from a site in Southern Chile were carbon dated to around 12,500 years old. There are however many sites in North and South America that are claimed to be older. The Eskimos (Inuit people) are thought to have skirted the edges of the ice fields around 4,000 years ago.
The chronology of US history is very interesting but also has an element of controversy as to the exact time of the first settlers.Click to go to:
