PRAISE TO GOD
Revelation 19:1-6
- intro
- this chapter marks a drastic change in the tone of this book
- from dreary days of judgment, to bright days of blessing
- a transfer from darkness to light
- it is a bridge between the Great Tribulation and the millennial kingdom that Christ will establish on earth
- two important events take place in this chapter
- the marriage supper of the Lamb
- the return of Christ
- two great suppers are recorded in this chapter
- marriage supper of the Lamb
- the cannibalistic feast of the fowls of the air, after the battle of Armageddon
- the first alleluia – 19:1-2
- the word means "praise the Lord"
- this alleluia is for the greatness of God
- there is much to praise the Lord for
- for salvation
- they acknowledge that salvation came from God
- now they can praise Him for their deliverance and assurance
- for glory and honor
- He alone is worthy of this
- we have nothing to boast in, except for our boast in the Lord
- for His power
- He is the all powerful One
- all power come from Him, and belongs to Him
- for His judgments
- those in heaven, who have a more perfect knowledge than us, say that God’s judgments are true and right
- if we don’t think that God is doing right, we are wrong not God
- why God judged the harlot (it was judgment from God)
- the religious system that the ten kings destroyed, and the religious system under the beast had no real differences accept who the center of worship was (both were a harlot system in God’s eyes)
- judgment came because she corrupted the whole earth
- judgment came because she shed the blood of saints
- the second alleluia – 19:3-4
- this alleluia is for His destruction of the enemy
- the final destruction of the great enemy is so monumental in the welfare of the world, that it calls for repeated expressions of praise
- every enemy shall be put down
- God has avenged the blood of His servant at her hand
- believers are forbidden to avenge themselves
- it is true that some of us try to do it, but when we do, we forsake our walk of faith
- the repetition of this word shows how intense the joy of heaven is, in view of the final triumph of the church
- the third alleluia – 19:5-6
- this alleluia is for the fact that God reigns supreme over all
- there is a call for the servants of God to worship Him
- "servants" means a slave, whether voluntary or involuntary
- characteristics of a servant
- those that fear Him
- they can be from any walk of life [both small and great]
