THE REMOVAL OF THE CURSE
Galatians 3:10-13
- the curse came from the law of God - Galatians 3:10
- the law of God is holy and perfect
- many do not understand the purpose or intent of God’s Law
- the Law is one of the most outstanding works of God
- no human could have set forth such a law
- all human laws that are good are found in God’s Law
- the biggest mistake that man can make is to think that the law is a means of salvation
- God never intended for man to be saved by the Law - Galatians 3:11
- when spoken on Mt. Sinai, it was with thunder, fire and smoke - Ex. 20:18
- it was written in stone: it was a hard, cold Law that would have no mercy on us
- those who trust in the Law for salvation, do not understand God design for the Law
- the Law was given to make man know his guilt, but never to save them
- the Law has given us a knowledge of sin
- the Law reveals the curse under which we are all living
- the Law cannot bring the blessings of God to us
- blessings are found in the gospel, but only curses in the Law
- the curse of the Law
- a universal curse
- it is upon every seed of Adam - Romans 5:12
- some think that the curse is only on those that live wicked lives
- the truth is: we are all under the curse
- the moral, the lovely, the upright
- all are cursed, if they have not been born again
- God’s Law is so strict that one offense will bring condemnation - Galatians 3:10
- there is no hope of mercy from the Law, but there is a hope of mercy in Christ - Galatians 3:13
- the curse is just
- this is where a great difficulty lies
- it is easy to accept the fact that the truly wicked are under the curse
- it is hard to believe that this curse is upon those who seem to live right
- God is just and right in all that He does
- "just a little sin" - how little trouble would it have been to avoid it
- if the sin be small, how small the cost to refrain from it
- in the smallness of sin, we see its greatness
- a little sin is of the same essence as all sin (rebellion)
- the curse is fearful
- some think little of the curse of God, but if they only knew the consequences
- the fearful consequences of the curse of God is enough to make your knees knock and hair stand up
- what does the curse include (death) (the wages of sin is death)
- physical death - the death of this body
- spiritual death - the death of the inner life, the death of our spirit
- eternal death - eternal separation from God, and dwelling forever in hell
- this curse is upon every man
- no exception for rank or reputation, because God has made none
- as far as the law is concerned we must die
- we are already dead spiritually
- we will die physically
- we will experience the eternal death if we are not born again
- it is a present curse - John 3:36
- it is not just a curse for the future
- if we do not believe in the Son of God, then we are the enemies of God
- the lost man is being injured by God, and he doesn’t even know it
- the removal of the curse
- it happens instantly - Romans 10:13
- the moment we ask Christ to save us the curse is remove
- it is a miraculous healing of our soul and spirit; it happens instantly, just like all the other miracles
- justification happens instantly; sanctification is a life long process
- it is a complete removal
- not just part of the curse is removed, but all of it
- when Christ forgives our sins, He forgives them all
- it is an irreversible removal
- once we have been pardoned, who can condemn us - Romans 8:33-34
- some believe that we can be a child of God today, and a child of the devil tomorrow
- will God pardon, and then condemn
- will God blot out our sins, and then rewrite them
- cannot Christ keep that which He saves
- is there anything that can separate us from the love of God - Romans 8:38-39
- how the curse is removed - Galatians 3:13
- the curse of God is not easily remove; in fact there is only one way (substitution)
- sin has to be paid for
- Jesus Christ took the curse upon Himself - "for us"
- Jesus Christ suffered and died for us, so that He might bring us to God
- the greatest teaching in the Bible is that Jesus died for me!!!
- has Jesus died for you?
