"Saiya-jins"

Bardock

Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Est. Weight: 156 lbs.
Est. Height: 5’8"
Parents: ? and ?
Kids: Goku and Raditz
Trainers: ?
Other Bardock is considered to be a low-level fighter. He is the typical saiya-jin, him and other saiya-jin go to other planets and whip out all of the people and animals there, leaving it a scorched barren wasteland. They then sell the planet to anybody that wants to buy it. They do this all for Lord Frieza, who is the ruler of the saiya-jin race. Bardock has a crew of four people plus himself. One day they were on a planet, the five of them, and they went about their normal planet takeover routine. The full moon came out and, like all saiya-jins, they transformed into the giant monkey creatures known as oozaru. They took the planet over quickly. After they were done, they were sitting around, relaxing. Bardock’s crew was talking about Bardock’s new son that was born the night before. At the time, Bardock didn’t care about anything, not even his son. They talked a little more and got to talking about why Frieza wanted this planet. Bardock said if you spent enough time there, you could learn to see the future (in the American version, you can see the future and read minds, but pay no attention to this)… There was one last inhabitant of the planet, and he jumped out and granted Bardock the ability to see the future. He said with this ability, Bardock could tell his race of their planet’s fate (being destroyed). Bardock promptly killed him. Bardock’s crew flew back to planet Vegeta, and Bardock quickly went into the regeneration tank. While in there, Bardock started seeing visions of the future, such as, visions of the planet’s fate and his son Goku. Bardock quickly got out and went to see his son. He checked his scouted, power level of 2, then left. It seems his crew went to destroy another planet. Bardock, mad that they left without him, went after them. When he got there, Bardock saw that all but one of his crew was dead. Frieza knew of Bardock’s escapades and feared that they were getting too powerful. He sent his Elite Soldiers and Dodoria to the planet to ambush them. Bardock watched his friend die, then whipped blood off his face with a cloth. The cloth was all red with blood and Bardock wrapped it around his head. He went off and killed a few of Frieza’s Elite Soldiers, then fought Dodoria. Dodoria blasted Bardock, then left, thinking Bardock was dead. Bardock flew back to the planet Vegeta and started warning people of the planet’s fate, but nobody believed him. They were thinking that since Bardock just watched his crew die, that he was losing it. Bardock took matters in his own hands and flew after Frieza. Frieza dispatched hundreds of men, but Bardock killed any that got in his way. Frieza came out and performed the move we all know. Bardock throw a blast at him, but you know what happened. The rest is history. Planet Vegeta and all the saiya-jins were gone.

At the end, Bardock actually had feelings for his son. Who knows what he thought about Raditz? I don’t think of Bardock as a low-class fighter. He was one of the Elites, that’s why Frieza feared him. Bardock was a very promising fighter, but that’s all over now.

Bra

Hair: Dull Green
Eyes: Dull Green
Est. Weight: 92 lbs.
Est. Height: 5’2"
Parents: Bulma and Vegeta
Kids: None
Trainers: Bulma?
Other Bra is sort of like a walk-on with DBZ. She isn’t around for much, so not much is known about her. She likes shopping, her parents, and Trunks. She seems to mimic Bulma’s hair styles and clothing at times. Like her mother, she’s an engineer, not a fighter.

Broli

Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Est. Weight: 235 lbs.
Est. Height: 6’4"
Parents: Father
Kids: None
Trainers: Father
Other Broli is the original Super Saiya-jin, or the Legendary Super Saiya-jin. His Super Saiya-jin form is about as strong as Goku’s SSJ2 or SSJ3. Broli has a severe hate for Goku. He was born the same day as Goku, and while in the hospital, Goku cried all day, which caused Broli to go insane. Broli is somewhat controlled by his father. He wears a collar/necklace to keep in control. Broli appears in three movies. In the first two, he fights as his normal self, trying to kill Goku. In his third and last movie, Broli was cloned and is a giant, green blob. He is weaken by salty things, and his finally is defeated by falling in the ocean. Broli is an okay villian, but his last form is downright stupid.

Gogeta

Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Est. Weight: 145 lbs.
Est. Height: 5’6"
Parents: None
Kids: None
Trainers: None
Other Gogeta is the fusion of Goku and Vegeta through the use of the Fusion Dance. Like all fusions done this way, the time limit here is 30 minutes, but it’s decreased to 20 minutes when Super Saiya-jin is involved. Gogeta appears only in Dragonball GT. The dominate person in this fusion is Goku.

Gohan, Son

Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Est. Weight: 147 lbs.
Est. Height: 5’6"
Parents: Goku and Chichi
Kids: Pan
Trainers: Goku, Piccolo, Chichi
Other Gohan is one of the characters we see from his childhood to his adult life. Gohan comes in handy many a battles. Gohan is the first son of Goku. Goku wants so much for Gohan to be a fighter, but Chichi won’t have it. Gohan spends a good chunk of his childhood studying. Chichi wants Gohan to grow up to be a scholar. Gohan first fights at the age of five against Raditz, his evil uncle. Raditz kidnapped him in hopes that Goku would kill people to get his son back, but Goku went after him instead. After Gohan saw his father in pain, Gohan smashed out of his prison and attacked Raditz. This was the first time Gohan showed signs of his hidden power as his power level went from nothing to past 700! After Goku was dead and Raditz spoke of the two Saiya-jins heading towards earth (Nappa and Vegeta) Piccolo to Gohan under his arm and went off to train him. Piccolo’s training was intense, but Piccolo and Gohan became friends over time. Gohan is the only person to show strong feelings for Piccolo. If it weren’t for Gohan, Piccolo most likely would have continued his quest to conquer the world. Even though Gohan was strong, he didn’t help much in the Nappa and Vegeta battle. It was his first real battle and he didn’t have any experience, plus, he was scared stiff. After the battle, it was decided they should head off towards Planet Namek to get the Namekian Dragonballs. After much protest on Chichi’s part, Gohan was allowed to go into space with Krillin and Bulma. Over the two-month journey, Gohan became fast friends with Bulma and Krillin. They got to Planek Namek only to find somoebody else was after the Dragonballs. They continued on their search for the balls until they met up with Guru. Guru unlocked Gohan’s hiddle talent and Gohan became even stronger than before, surpassing Krillin by a long shot. Gohan and Krillin teamed up with Vegeta and they went after the Ginyu Force. Gohan and Krillin pretty much take care of Guldo and that’s that. Gohan loses against Recoome and before you know it, he’s fighting Frieza. Gohan didn’t fight Frieza very much or for very long, but when he did, he gave him a run for his money. Gohan’s hidden power was evident here. Gohan got back to earth and it was back to the books again. A year or so later, Trunks came and told everybody about the Android menace that was to come and, like always, Gohan went off to train again. Chichi protested more but, see lost the battle again. Gohan trained for three years with Goku and Piccolo. During the Android battles, Gohan didn’t help much at all. This is sort of a low point in Gohan’s career. Then Cell came and Gohan and Goku trained in the room of Spirit and Time for a year. Gohan came out and fought Cell, but was quickly losing. Once Cell knew of Gohan’s hidden pwower, Cell toyed with him until Gohan reached the height of his career, transforming into Super Saiya-jin 2. At this point, Gohan was the strongest character in DBZ. Gohan was happy with his new power and played with Cell for a long time. Cell self-destructed, Goku died, then Cell came back again. Gohan did the coolest move in DBZ, the One-Handed Kamehameha. Gohan, with the help of Vegeta, defeated Cell. Seven years passed and Gohan had a new brother, Goten. Gohan grew up to be a scholar, just like Chichi wanted. Videl became his girlfriend and the two of them fought the forces of evil as Super Saiyaman I and Super Saiyaman II. Gohan fought in the latest Tenkaichi Budokai, and then Buu stepped into the picture. Gohan then trained under the Kaios, and pulled out the Z Sword, a powerful sword that makes you stronger. Gohan trained for a bit, then went after Buu. Gohan was again the strongest good guy, but not for long. He was quickly absorbed into Buu. Goku and Vegeta freed everybody, including Gohan. DBZ ends and Gohan has his only child, Pan, who is ¼ saiya-jin. Gohan doesn’t do much in DBGT, and life goes on.
Gohan’s one of my favorite characters, and is very popular. His best parts were in the beginning up to the end of the Cell Saga. SSJ2 is just the greatest. Gohan is actually very important, not only for his fighting ability, but because he keeps Piccolo under control, to a certain degree. I think it’s a big disappointment when Gohan becomes a scholar/nerd. So much power gone to rest. Oh well, that’s how the balls bounces I guess…

Goku, Son

Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Est. Weight: 152 lbs.
Est. Height: 5’8"
Parents: Bardock and ?
Kids: Gohan and Goten
Trainers: Master Roshi, Kami, King Kai, Karin, Son Gohan
Other Goku is a blockhead and an idiot. He has no purpose in the series whatsoever and it seems that Akira Toriyama added him in the series for filler. And where did he come up with the character design for this guy? He might as well chuck him in the trash, ‘cus that’s where it looks like he came from. All those people telling you Goku’s the strongest and the most important and can turn SSJ4 and all that jazz, they’re lying through their teeth. Why don’t you just go on and read somebody else because this dude’s not important…

Goten, Son

Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Est. Weight: 107 lbs.
Est. Height: 4’4"
Parents: Goku and Chichi
Kids: None
Trainers: Goku, Gohan.
Other Goten is the second son of Goku and Chichi, little brother of Gohan. Goten looks exactly like Goku. At Goten’s birth through the age of seven or so, Goten had never seen his father, since he died in the Cell Saga. Chichi isn’t as strict with Goten as she was with Gohan. Goten spends a lot of his day exploring and having fun. Goten is quite powerful for his age, and he claims that he transformed into Super Saiya-jin while in the presence of Chichi, but she told him never to do it again. Even though Goten could turn Super Saiya-jin, he could not fly. Gohan took over the role of teaching him this. Goten is best friends with Trunks. They get into a lot of trouble when their together. Goten makes his first appearance in the Buu Saga. He fights in the children’s division of the Tenkaichi Budokai, and makes it all the way to the finals, just like Trunks. Trunks ends up beating him though, so you could say Trunks is the stronger of the two. Goten and Trunks weren’t satisfied with fighting in the children’s division, so Trunks stood in Goten’s shoulders and they put on a man’s cloths. Their cover was eventually blown by #18. At this Tenkaichi Budokai, Goten saw his father for the first time. Goten and Trunks also got involved in the fight against Buu. When it was obvious that nobody could beat Buu, Goku came and taught Goten and Trunks the fusion dance and they became Gotenks. For more on Gotenks, see his section. In GT, Goten doesn’t do a whole lot. He’s older now, and possibly has a girlfriend, but he doesn’t partake in any of the fighting. If Akira Toriyama would’ve continued the series past DBZ (he didn’t have any part of DBGT) Goten and his friend Trunks surely would’ve become far more powerful and important in the overall scheme of things.

Gotenks

Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Est. Weight: 135 lbs.
Est. Height: 4’7"
Parents: None
Kids: None
Trainers: None
Other Gotenks is the fusion of Trunks and Goten through the use of the fusion dance. Goku taught this move to both of them in the middle of the Buu Saga. They tried desperately to get it right, and after failing many times, finally got it right. Gotenks is like all the other fusions, very cocky. I’m not sure who the dominate figure is in Gotenks, but if I were a betting man, I’d say Goten, since Gotenks looks more like Goten than Trunks. But, Trunks and Goten have a difficult time deciding who’s in charge of the body, which leads to antics. When it’s obvious Gotenks can’t beat Buu, Goten and Trunks head into the Room of Spirit and Time. They train, and Buu enters the room and challenges him. Gotenks adds humor to the show, an his moves are just ridiculous, and when added to the cockiness of him, it turns out great. Gotenks isn’t used after the Buu Saga. Part of Gotenks’ greatness is his ability to turn Super Saiya-jin 3 without going through Super Saiya-jin 2.

Nappa

Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: Black
Est. Weight: 284 lbs.
Est. Height: 7’2"
Parents: ? and ?
Kids: None
Trainers: ?
Other Nappa is one of my favorite characters. He isn’t the strongest, but he does prove quite a match. Nappa is one of the four surviving Saiya-jin, along with Raditz, Vegeta, and Goku (and Broli if you count it). Nappa, Raditz, and Vegeta went around destroying planets, like all of Frieza’s men. They became quite a team and wound up on earth. Nappa was with Vegeta, searching for the Dragonballs so they could wish for immortality. They met up with the Z Warriors and gave them something to cry about. Nappa and his saibemen whipped out quite a chunk of the Z Warrior team. Nappa was killed by Vegeta after Goku broke his back. Nappa was a bit of a blockhead and loved to destroy things, much to Vegeta’s disappointment. Nappa comes back briefly in DBGT, but Vegeta I think, kills him again. In all fairness, I think the Z Fighters could’ve defeated Nappa without Goku’s help. I mean, Piccolo and Goku defeated Raditz, and Raditz was 3 times as powerful as them. Nappa was almost twice as powerful as Piccolo, but Piccolo had Tien, Choazu, Krillin, and Gohan on his side, plus, they all had a wide verity of moves available to them, but they still lost. Nappa should’ve died soon, and the casualties should’ve been less. Choazu, Tien, and Piccolo should never have died, but….

Pan

Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown
Est. Weight: 95 lbs.
Est. Height: 4’5"
Parents: Gohan and Videl
Kids: None
Trainers: None
Other Pan is the daughter of Gohan and Videl. Besides Bra, she’s the only female saiya-jin of the series. She’s one-fourth saiya-jin. She doesn’t do anything until DBGT, when she’s one of the stars of the program. Goku and Trunks go on a mission to collect the Black Star Dragonballs, and she sneaks aboard their spaceship and comes with them. She is very powerful for her age, but she cannot turn SSJ. She’s in a lot of the battles, but she never gets to fight the really powerful enemies, it seems that that job is up to Goku and Vegeta. If only she could turn SSJ, she could maybe be an assist to the team…

Raditz

Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Est. Weight: 162 lbs.
Est. Height: 5’9"
Parents: Bardock and ?
Kids: None
Trainers: ?
Other Raditz is another one of my favorite characters. He’s the son of Bardock and Goku’s his little bro. He’s one of the four surviving Saiya-jin, and came to earth looking for Goku. When he found Goku had not done his job (of destroying the planet) he attacked Goku. Goku could redeem himself if he killed 100 people in one day, and to make sure he did that, Raditz kidnapped Gohan. Raditz waited around for the day to pass, and Goku and Piccolo came and attacked him. Raditz put up quite a fight, and succeeded in bringing Goku to the ground and blasting off one of Piccolo’s arms. Gohan busted out of the space pod that Raditz had put him in and attacked his uncle. Raditz was shocked at this, and proceeded to knock out Gohan. Sometime during the battle, Goku grabbed onto Raditz’s tail, since saiya-jins are over powered when the tail is grabbed. Piccolo was going to shot the Special Beam Cannon at him, but Goku let go of Radtiz’s tail, since Raditz said that he’d change and was just bluffing, et cetera. Piccolo’s shot missed. Goku later grabbed onto Raditz from behind, this time, he didn’t let go and Raditz still couldn’t move. Piccolo shot the Special Beam Cannon again, which promptly went right through Raditz and Goku. Before Raditz died, he said that his two saiya-jin friends would come and kill Piccolo and the rest and they’d be at earth in one year. Raditz appeared shortly in the series, but that doesn’t mean you can’t like him. I think he’s great because he starts the ball rolling in DBZ, and quickly gets the main character dead in the first 4 or 5 episodes.

Trunks, Chibi

Hair: Purple
Eyes: Blue
Est. Weight: 107 lbs.
Est. Height: 4’5"
Parents: Bulma and Vegeta
Kids: None
Trainers: Vegeta, Goku.
Other In case you didn’t know, "Chibi" means "little." So this is little Trunks. Chibi Trunks first appears in the Cell Saga. At this time, he’s just a babe. It’s not until the Buu Saga when he actually does something. He’s best friends with Goten. Trunks’ parents are Bulma and Vegeta. Trunks doesn’t get around as much as Goten, since Bulma is a little strict with him. He is the heir to Capsule Corporation and all. Trunks too can become a Super Saiya-jin at will, and this freaks out Vegeta, since a kid that small is so powerful. Trunks trains with Vegeta once and awhile, but Vegeta’s training is a little much for Trunks. He competes in the Tenkaichi Budokai with everybody else, and wins the children’s division. Mr. Satan (Hercule for all ya Americans) said that the winner of the children’s division could face him, but he’d go easy on him. Trunks thinks Satan is a bozo and knocks him a good one. When everybody goes to fight Buu, Trunks and Goten tag along. As they’re flying, Trunks and Goten see a statue of Piccolo (Piccolo was turned to stone by Darbura). Trunks thinks it’s a funny looking rock or something along those lines (who knows with eight-year olds?) and punches the statue, causing it to break into pieces. At that moment, Trunks and Goten realize the statue’s Piccolo. As to how Trunks contributes to the Buu fight, Trunks and Goten are taught the fusion dance by Goku and they fuse to become Gotenks. For more on what Gotenks does, read his bio. In DBGT, Trunks is one of the main characters, for a bit. Him and Goku go on an adventure through space to find the Black Star Dragonballs, with the "help" of Pan. They defeat minor enemies along the way, get into mischief, et cetera. In GT, Trunks is a major business-type man, and his sword makes an appearance and is used once in awhile in the last series.

Trunks, Mirai

Hair: Purple
Eyes: Blue
Est. Weight: 125 lbs.
Est. Height: 5’4"
Parents: Bulma and Vegeta
Kids: None
Trainers: Gohan
Other In Japanese, Mirai means "big" or "future." So this is the older version of Trunks. In Trunks’ time, there are two androids (#17 and #18) that are going around the earth, killed people, destroying cities, and doing anything else to get enjoyment. Trunks is about 12 at the time. All of the Z Warriors are killed off, except Goku. He contracted a deadly heart disease and died that way. There was only one surviving warrior, Gohan. Gohan became Trunks’ master and taught him how to fight. Trunks lived alone with his mother, Bulma. Gohan had been going around, fighting the androids on his own, but never making a dent in them. One day, Gohan lost his arm in a battle. He continued to train Trunks and tried desperately to get Trunks to turn Super Saiya-jin. Gohan went after the androids again, but finally lost. Trunks saw his dead master lying in the water, and transformed. Trunks attacked the androids, but failed. Bulma talked him into going in her new time machine into the past and giving Goku medicine for the hear disease he was going to get. Trunks did and found Metal Frieza and King Cold on earth. He promptly killed them, then explained to Goku everything about the androids and the disease. He went into the future, since the androids were coming in three years and he could change time too much by staying back during that time. Trunks came back and helped everybody fight off the androids menace, but the androids the Z Warriors encountered where different than the ones in Trunks’ time and far too weak. When the real androids came into the picture, Trunks was more or less useless in battle. He went with his father Vegeta into the Room of Spirit and Time and trained to fight Cell. The only people that got a chance to battle Cell were Goku and Gohan, Trunks sat this one out. Trunks did fight the Cell Jrs., but like everybody else, he was useless again and got his butt kicked. Cell was destroyed by Goku, but came back to live again. As soon as he appeared on earth, Cell quickly shot a beam out and *pop* Trunks was dead. Trunks was brought back to life with a simple wish from Shenlong, the dragon. Trunks traveled back to his own time now that the fighting was over. When he got back, he quickly killed Androids #17 and #18. He did this easily this time because of his training in the Room of Spirit and Time. He then destroyed Cell and went back to his own business.

The Third Trunks

There are actually three Trunks’. This only happens if you believe movie 13 happened. In movie 13, Trunks (chibi) and all the other Z Warriors are attacked by the typical super villain, yada yada yada, and at the end of the movie, a warrior from a different planet gives Trunks the Holy Sword (the Holy Sword is the name of Trunks sword). This is what makes Trunks the third Trunks. In Trunks’ time, everybody was dead, and Goten had never been born. But in this movie, everybody is alive and Goten is around. Because of this fact, this makes the Trunks of movie 13 different from Mirai Trunks and thus, a different Trunks.

Vegeta, King

Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Est. Weight: 154 lbs.
Est. Height: 5’9"
Parents: ? and ?
Kids: Vegeta
Trainers: ?
Other King of all the Saiya-jins and father of Vegeta. He rules over Planet Vegeta. He takes orders from Lord Frieza and is like everybody else controlled by Frieza. He destroys life on planets so the planet can be sold. Not much is known about Vegeta. One day, Vegeta rallied his elite troops and attacked Frieza in his ship above Planet Vegeta. Vegeta said that he would no longer take orders from Frieza and they were succeeding from his empire. Frieza killed him, then destroyed Planet Vegeta. Oh well, it was worth a try, I guess.

Vegeta, Prince

Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Est. Weight: 132 lbs.
Est. Height: 5’4"
Parents: King Vegeta and ?
Kids: Trunks and Bra
Trainers: ?
Other Vegeta is son of King Vegeta. He too is one of the four surviving Saiya-jin. He lived under Frieza, and had a very difficult childhood. Before Planet Vegeta was destroyed, Vegeta was taken from his family. He had to do everything Frieza insisted of him, or death would happen. But, his father was killed anyway. Vegeta works along side Nappa and Raditz, and is clearly the leader of the little posse. He comes to earth in search of the Dragonballs with Nappa. They were going to wish for immortality. They met up with the Z Warriors and fight broke out. Vegeta waited around for Goku and fought him, barely winning. Vegeta flew to a planet owned by Frieza and has healed. He then went to Planet Namek and searched for the Dragonballs there, but Frieza and his cronies got in his way. He killed Kui, Dodoria, and Zarbon, then got in a fight with the Ginyu Force. He lost here. Goku arrived and, much to Vegeta’s disapproval, gave Vegeta a Zenzu bean. Vegeta, being near death, returned stronger, and helped in the battle against Ginyu. Vegeta, Krillin, Gohan, and Piccolo battled against Frieza until Goku arrived. Vegeta was telling Goku of his childhood and pointed out all the reasons Frieza should be killed. Frieza killed Vegeta at this. Vegeta was brought back to life and went to earth. During this time, Vegeta learned how to become Super Saiya-jin (while in space one day). Vegeta always has this obsession to be better than Goku, so that’s what he strives for. When it’s known the Androids are coming, Vegeta trains under 300 times gravity. Vegeta helps greatly in the fight against the Androids, and trains with Trunks in the Room of Spirit and Time in preparation to fight Cell. Vegeta doesn’t fight against Cell at first and gets beaten by the Cell Jrs. When Gohan does his one-armed Kamehameha, Vegeta enters the battle. Gohan was losing, and Vegeta blasted Cell, which messed him up, and Gohan took the win. In the Buu Saga, Vegeta enters the Tenkaichi Budokai with everybody else. His reason is simple, he wants to face Goku in the final round. The whole Buu ordeal comes about and Vegeta leaves the tournament. Vegeta meets up with the enemy and is talked into giving up his energy to the release of Buu. In return, Vegeta is given vast amounts of power and becomes a Majin, (thus, Majin-Vegeta). He does this only to catch up with Goku, and so Vegeta fights Goku, but the fight is never really finished. Buu is too important. Vegeta fuses with Goku to fight Buu, then gets defused, and helps Goku finally defeat Buu. In GT, Vegeta doesn’t do anything the first half of the series, but later, along with Goku, fights evil in traditional DBZ style. And that’s all for Vegeta’s life.
The only thing disappointing about Vegeta is he never got a good chance to fight Goku. If they would’ve fought for real, who knows what would’ve happened? Vegeta most likely would’ve lost….

Vegetto

Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Est. Weight: 168 lbs.
Est. Height: 5’8"
Parents: None
Kids: None
Trainers: None
Other Vegetto is the fusion of Goku and Vegeta through the use of the Fusion Earrings. This fusion was used to fight Buu. It’s supposed to be permanent, but Buu’s stomach disabled this affect when he swallowed them. Vegeta is the dominate person in Vegetto.
