"Super Saiya-jins"
A super saiya-jin is a saiya-jin that has been pushed over the edge. It gives them a great boost in power and it is triggered by extreme rage. It is used often in the show. The first Super Saiya-jin was Goku, soon followed by the rest of the saiya-jins. A Super Saiya-jin is supposed to arrive every 1,000 years, but that little piece of info was soon dropped.
Requirements for Super Saiya-jin
1: You have to be at least part saiya-jin to become one.
2: You must have enough power to transform
3: You must have a pure heart, quiet, calm heart.
4:You must have extreme rage and lust for battle.
How’d Vegeta do it? His heart was pure evil. There are 4 stages of super saiya-jin, with some variations. They are as follows:
Super Saiya-jin 1 (Picture)
This is the first stage (duh) of super saiya-jin. Goku was the first to get here. When the person becomes one, their eyes turn green and their hair turns gold-yellow. Their hair stands on end sort of like Vegeta’s. They get a little bit taller and a whole lot muscular. When they become this, lightning is around them and they have a yellow aura around themselves. Once a Saiya-jin is SSJ, their hearts are filled with anger. This is one of the reasons Goku has a difficult problem with this stage. A Genki Dama cannot be formed either while SS, the heart has too much evil in it. Goku and Vegeta became a SSJ in mid-life. Trunks and Goten on the other hand became Super Saiya-jin at a very early age. This could either be because partial blooded Saiya-jins transform quicker, or, it's another plot hole. What would be the point of Trunks and Goten if they couldn't turn SSJ before age 30-40? Nothing.
Whose became SS: Goku, Gohan, Goten, Future Trunks, Chibi Trunks, Vegeta, Gotenks, Vegetto, Gogeta, and Broly (movies only.)
Ultimate Super Saiya-jin Stage 2
Slightly more powerful than SS1, but not to be confused with SS2. This is one variation of the original SSJ. Think of it as Super Saiya-jin 1...2. This increases a Saiya-jin’s power just a bit, and they become pumped up. It’s used a minimal amount before the Cell Game.
Whose became Ultimate SS2: Goku, Trunks, Vegeta (although I believe Goten achieved this also, along with fusions, don’t quote me though.)
Ultimate Super Saiya-jin Stage 3
Used only once, both by Goku and Trunks. This stage is not SS3, but the third and last variation of SS1. When this is used, a Saiya-jin’s body becomes huge and muscular. Their power is increased by a vast amount. This stage does have a flaw. Since the Saiya-jin’s body is so big, their speed is slowed down a ton. That’s why it was disused.
Whose became Ultimate SS3: Trunks and Goku.
Super Saiya-jin Full Power
Full Power SSJ means that a Saiya-jin in SSJ mode can stay a SSJ for long periods of time. Goku and Gohan and the only ones that can do this. They stayed this way for most of their time in the Room of Spirit and Time while training for the Cell Games. Goku and Gohan almost never left SSJ during this time. Because they were in SSJ so long, they could easily transform and un-transform without physically exhausting themselves.
Whose became SSJ Full Power: Goku and Gohan.
Mind Controlled Super Saiya-jin
This only happened to Broly. Broly was being mind controlled by Paragas, and while he was during this, he could never reach maximum potential.
Whose became Mind Controlled SSJ: Broly
Legendary Super Saiya-jin
A Legendary Super Saiya-jin is said to appear whenever somebody turns SSJ (obviously this only happens in the movies). A Legendary SSJ is said to be more powerful than a SSJ. This is Broly's ultimate form.
Whose became a Legendary SSJ: Broly
Super Saiya-jin 2 (Picture)
The second stage. To get here, have to have become super saiya-jin 1 first. You get a little more muscular then super saiya-jin 1 and you’re hair is a little bit longer. The eyes are still green and the hair still yellow. You become way stronger than SS1, but you’re speed doesn’t suffer like Ultimate SS3. This is preferred in battle, although SS1 is used more.
Whose became SS2: Goku, Gohan, Vegeta.
Mystic Super Saiya-jin
Mystic SSJ is a strange form. Mystic is said to be a higher grade than SSJ2, although it looks the same as SSJ2. Only Gohan could reach this level.
Whose became Mystic SSJ: Gohan
Super Saiya-jin 3 (Picture)
The last stage. Eyes are big and green and the yellow hair is about four and a half feet long. Eyebrows disappear. Still muscular and you are faster too. Goku and Gotenks are the only saiya-jins to ever reach it this far. This stage takes a vast amount of energy. Goku can become Full Powered with it in the Afterlife, (but for short periods) and less powered in the real world (for an even lesser time!)
Whose became SS3: Goku and Gotenks.
"Super Sayia-jin 4" (Picture)
This isn’t really super saiya-jin since there is no yellow hair. The only people that reach it are Vegeta and Goku. It’s really called Super Goku 4 and Super Vegeta 4. The makers of Dragonball GT (it’s made by a different company than DB and DBZ) shouldn’t even have made this stage, or at least not made this stage look like what it is. In this stage, the upper half of your body is covered in red fur. You have no eyebrows and your hair is black. This is the only stage with a tail. To get here, you have to have had become Super Saiya-jin 3. You need a tail. First, you need to become a golden Oozaru. Then, you have to be strong enough and then you can transform. Vegeta cheated (like always) because he skipped SSJ3 (Super Saiya-jin 3). How? Bulma made a tank that shot Brute Rays, which made Vegeta transform into a Golden Oozaru, and thus Super Vegeta 4.
Whose became "SS4": Goku, Vegeta.
Other Saiya-jin Transformations
Oozaru
This is the basic one. If you have a tail, all you have to do is look at moon light of some sort (or artifical moonlight (Vegeta) or look at a full planet (like earth)) You grow 50 feet tall and your power is 10 fold. They look like a giant monkey with a wolf’s muzzle. Everybody had control over their bodies while they were in this form (mostly.)
Golden Oozaru
Highest form of Oozaru. Same physical description except you have golden fur. To get here, you have to look at a full planet, and in the show, they looked at a full earth. If you have a tail and you turn SS1, you’ll become a Golden Oozaru.
