Adrenal Hormone Saliva Test: Best if it utilizes four saliva samples throughout the day to better determine circadian rhythm of cortisol. Traditional tests use only a single morning sample.
Available from: Doctor’s offices only.

Adrenal Glandulars: Freeze dried adrenal tissue, usually adrenal cortex, sometimes with DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) to complement the formula. Glandulars are more critical than herbs and require some medical monitoring from a doctor.

"Adrenal-Charge" Supportive Information

The Adrenal Glands produce important hormones that assist in regulating various body functions. The following suggested nutrients and herbs assist in maintaining appropriate balances of these critical hormones and thus enhance endocrine health. Providing support for the Adrenals is an excellent choice for individuals suffering energy loss and stress from the day-to-day pressures of modern living.

Suma: This rainforest herb is known as para toda (which means “for all things”). It is so named as the indigenous peoples of the Amazon region have used it for generations as a general tonic to increase energy and rejuvenate the individual. The Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine reports that Suma is useful in restoring nerve and glandular function and to balance the endocrine system as well as strengthening the immune system. Of interest, Suma has also been called “the Russian secret” as it is taken by Russian athletes to increase muscle-building and endurance without the side effects associated with steroids.

Chuchuhuasi: This herb found in the Amazon rainforest has also enjoyed centuries of local use among the Amazon rainforest tribes. It is a popular drink often provided to tourists for its general tonic as well as purported aphrodisiac qualities. There has been a number of studies performed in animals. Chuchuhuasi has demonstrated immune-stimulating properties, anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidant properties in these research models. South American people use this herb for its adrenal support, immune support and its anti-inflammatory properties (in arthritis). A number of American pharmaceutical companies are evaluating this herb for its myriad of constituents that may allow them to develop drugs based on the herb’s anti-inflammatory properties.

Pantothenic Acid: Pantothenic acid, also known as Vitamin B5, has numerous functions in the body. Among them is support of the adrenal glands. This is based upon its role in adrenal hormone production.

Licorice Root Extract: Licorice root contains the photochemical glycyrrhizin. This component is responsible for the adrenal support properties of the herb. Glycyrrhizin inhibits the liver metabolism of cortisol, an adrenal hormone. Promoting levels of cortisol may be beneficial in individuals requiring adrenal support.
