Here is a page of necessary files that any First Encounters player must look at.

There are three zip files. Uncompress each to its own disk, insert Disk 1, go to the DOS prompt and type:
A:/ <enter>
Install <enter>
It will copy some files, then ask you to insert disk two. Continue until disk 3 is done. Then, go to the DOS prompt and type:
firstenc <enter>

The following is an archive of all of the First Encounters music in MIDI format. Enjoy!
FFE Bug Fix
As all know, First Encounters is ridden with bugs. Well, I think I have fixed all of them. This is the actual execute file of the game. The official version is 1.5, remastered, but I have modified it in a way so that there are little or no bugs. (I've found none yet). All you have to do is unzip it into your First Encounters directory, and make sure the file replcaces.
Black Space Patch
This patch gives you black space, but doesn't work that well. It also makes some darker shades of water black, and space often flickers from blue to black. If you use this, stay away from planets, unless you want to see black water. Works decently on cockpit/internal view mode; doesn't flicker.
First Encounters Hacking Suite
This is a zip file chock full of hex codes and a simple, but effective, hex editor. I also provide support on hacking, being a veteran game hacker myself. Written by George Hooper, THE MAN when it comes to programming.
