Anyone else see them @ Chelmsford on Saturday?

I was right at the front where there was a lot of jigging going on. They were miles better than at Glastonbury - the crowd went crazy and sang along to all the favourites - their 50 minute set was over in a jiffy. Luckily I had a VIP pass and managed to get backstage where I met and chatted to all three of them - only briefly mind you. Liam Gallagher was also hanging around with his ridiculously skanky hair - and the All Saints were fawning all over the shop.

I think they (Semisonic) were all a bit knackered as Dan told me they'd flown in the day before and had a concert every day plus loads of travelling until they flew back on Tuesday. They signed all my stuff and were quite polite - they must HATE the autograph scenario. But they did say they'd enjoyed the concert and when I asked how it compared to Glasto they admitted they'd been quite rusy as they hadn't played live for 8 months - probably the last time they were in England in fact.

Travis and Macy Gray were also great - Macy Gray is a nutter, isn't she? Moloko were good too but the tent was heaving. Bloodhound Gang got everyone going - especially when they said - f**k the French. A bizarre mutual hatred united them with the crowd.

I still cannot believe I met Semisonic - was so close I could see the wrinkles and everything......

What a day.
