I think that the events of September 11th were obviously
something that all Americans would love to forget. I remember the day that
it happened, I was in a VICA meeting. When I was told what had happened, I thought that it was some kind of a joke. It's
something that happens in movies, right? After the events of September
11th you couldn't go outside without seeing an American flag.
People had them in their windows, on their cars, the police had them on
their cars. Then there was the fund-raising, fire trucks all over the
place collecting money for the red cross. I don't remember how much was
collected but it was a huge amount. All of a sudden everyone was proud
to be an American. Doesn't it say something when it takes thousands to
die for everyone to be patriotic to their country.

I talked to my friend Heather about what had happened.
She was also in the VICA meeting with me. She was shocked just like the
rest of us. In her opinion Bin Laden should be tortured. For her, her life
hasn't changed all that much since Sept. 11. She supports the war against terrorism.
