Outlaws Records

The New Age Outlaws -- Road Dogg and Mr. Ass -- shocked the world Thursday on SmackDown when they reunited and took the Tag Team Championship from The Rock and Mankind. Here's a look at some facts and figures about the most accomplished team in World Wrestling Federation history:

-- The New Age Outlaws are the first team to hold the Tag Team Championship on four separate occasions. Six teams have held the belts three times: the Smoking Gunns, the Quebecers, Demolition, Money Inc., the Samoans and the 1970s combination of Prof. Tanaka and Mr. Fuji.

-- The Outlaws' first title win came over the Legion of Doom on Nov. 24, 1997. Their other three title wins have all involved Mick Foley: On March 30, 1998, they defeated Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie; on Aug. 30, they defeated Mankind and Kane, and on Thursday night, they defeated Mankind and The Rock.

-- The Outlaws held the Tag Team Championship for all but 64 days in 1998.

-- The Outlaws are the first team to win the Tag Team Championship in three consecutive years. They won the belts for the first time in 1997, and then had two reigns in 1998 and a fourth starting Thursday.

-- Billy Gunn is now once again the most decorated tag team superstar of all time. Mr. Ass now has had seven reigns as Tag Team Champion, moving one ahead of Mick Foley, who tied Mr. Ass at six on Monday's RAW. Billy's first three tag team reigns came as a member of the Smoking Gunns with his brother, Bart.

-- Billy Gunn has won at least one Tag Team Championship every year since 1995 -- five years in a row!

-- Billy's first Tag Team Championship reign as a member of the Smoking Gunns came over Bob Holly and the 1-2-3 Kid, now his teammate in D-Generation X, X-Pac.

-- Some Federation fans may claim that Billy Gunn is actually an eight-time Tag Team Champion. On an episode of RAW back in June, Mr. Ass teamed up with the Tag Team Champion Acolytes against X-Pac, Kane and Road Dogg. X-Pac challenged the champs to put the titles on the line. Billy accepted the challenge for the champs. The match ended when Mr. Ass pinned X-Pac after a Fame-asser, and Billy left with one of the tag belts. But it was just considered a case of stolen property, not a title win. Bradshaw pinned Billy the day after King of the Ring to regain the title belt.

Since their last title reign ended in December, both Road Dogg and Mr. Ass have been hard at work. Road Dogg has won the Intercontinental Championship, and Billy has won the Hardcore title and King of the Ring crown. They've been kicking ass -- usually each other's -- and taking names. As good as they were the last time they teamed up, the fourth time might truly be the charm for the New Age Outlaws.
