Friday was a scary night, my friends & i were calling for directions &
the owner told us that the show had sold out! we were already in san
diego & had traveled for 2 hours in rain! anyways, we waited near the
venue for about an hour & some minutes, watching the airplanes fly
overhead (san diego has one of the most dangerous airports in the nation,
since the planes clear a parking lot by 30'!).
well, i spotted matt &
the gang but was too late when they left to eat w/kristen worden (their
manager @ larrikin). we waited till they returned & i spoke to matt
about getting in but i had remembered their roady, chris carey, from
their previous tour & lollapalooza (worked the 3rd stage). so i spoke to
chris & he got my friends & i in. but that's not all of it...
i saw a piece of paper w/the bands playing that night (2/6), & shot a
load in my pants...
- shiner
- hum
- no knife
- smile
(earliest to latest on the bill)
i yelled out load like a fool.
hum (in no-brainer order):
intro...segue...afternoon w/the axolotls (jeff had some problems w/his bass,
his input jack was all messed up... errrhh...crrrkkk...frrr)
pod (does brian use a double kick? it always sounds likes he does on
the bridge)
suicide machine (had the screeching-bird sample pre-set the mood before they
actually played, i love this song. matt talked a bit about the
song... "watching football on the couch, but my girlfriend doesn't
really watch it, have a cat here & one up there & drinking beer")
stars (crowd-rocker, of course)
comin' home (not surprised-- of course it rocked!)
iron clad lou (wow...)
green to me (very cool)
i'd like your hair long (sweet =}
if you are to bloom (matt even held the note "...see meeeeeeeeeee" while
still playing his do-hicky)
apollo (oooohhhh...really pretty)
closed w/i hate it too (what a song to end a great set, simply a good
pick for a closer
