Music is something that darn near every station is in business for, Action Radio is no exception.
I would like to offer a New Age and jazz music format but that kind of music doesn't propagate well on shortwave. Besides, much of it is instrumental and most people wouldn't be able to ID it for a reception report.
Music nowadays is really taking a turn for the worse! This new "style" of music that they are calling alternative really strikes me; What is so damn alternative about it? The music is nothing new and it certainly isn't alternative to anything! There are some great new artists in the music scene currently.. A few of the ones that cross my mind at present are Donna Lewis and Jennifer Paige. These ladies can really sing! A few others that stick out in my mind as an example of the decline of musical tastes are Smashing Pumpkins, Bare Naked Ladies and Smash Mouth, YUK! If you like the groups that I dislike, feel free to like them. This is America where you can like or hate what you wish. Don't write to me in defense of these groups because quite frankly, I don't care how many records they have sold or how many people like them: I DON'T!
Much of the music on the early Action Radio shows was actually picked while I was recording the broadcast. I might have heard a particular song on the radio and was in the mood to play it, so that is how it got on the show. It might have been a song that I hadn't heard for awhile, who knows, at the time I wanted to play it so I did.
On future programs, I plan on playing a little less music and putting a lot more "funny stuff" in the shows.
