Honeybear, the Travelin' Man

Well, getting in and out of the trailer and traveling to Pine Dell Farm is just old hat now and Honeybear is ready to start learning the "hard" things. He will return to the farm to have a farrier visit next week and will have his teeth checked and floated soon.

Honeybear is one of the lucky Kansas Hackneys. He is loved and cared for, fed well and will have a home for life with his present owner who considers herself extremely fortunate to know someone like Susan who is willing to spend the time training Honeybear.

When I adopted these ponies, I thought that a lot of love, good food and a friendly environment would be enough to tame them. I was WRONG!!!!

It is taking a dedicated and competent trainer to turn Honeybear into a pony that anyone would be proud to own. Eventually he will be taught to drive and will serve as an example that "throw away" equines can be just as wonderful as those that were born and brought up by royalty but they do have special needs. Honeybear has responded very well to the wonderful training methods of Pat Parelli as do all equines.

Watch for weekly updates on the Saga of Honeybear.

"You want me to go WHERE????"

"Wellllll, I'll just step in here long enough to eat this delicious hay, but then I'm getting RIGHT BACK OUT!"

"Oh, more yummies!"

"Now what, Mom?"

"How far down is it?"

"Whew, we made it. I don't like being tied up, Mom!"
