~*Chapter Ten*~

"Leesa! Leesa!" AJ cried as he entered her room. He walked into her bedroom, to find her standing in front of her cupboard, wrapped in a white hotel towel, with her headphones on. He walked over to her, and lifted one of the earphones from her ear.
"Leesa!" he shouted in her ear, and she turned around, startled.
"AJ! What are you doing in here?" she cried as she gave him a hug. Her towel only just covered her chest, the swelling of her breasts peeking over the top. AJ looked away, uncomfortable. He pulled her headphones off, and asked, "Whatcha listening to?" He stuck the earphones in his ear, and heard the words, ‘ Girl I’m just a freak, in need of therapy, I count the ounce in every
bounce, and I just wanna feast. I love the way you work it, I love the
way you grind, Ya got da funk in every pump, if you could read my mind.
What I would do…"
"5ive," she answered, turning back to the closet.
"Interesting lyrics. They seem a bit provocative for you! I didn’t know you like this kind of music," AJ said, walking over to her.
"No, I like it alright. I like the way that it’s provocative, without being over the top. They manage to make most of their songs that way. But you! You and your pansy-ass songs! They’re always… I miss you, I love you, wah wah wah!" she teased, pulling out a lemon yellow spaghetti strapped stocking top, covered in diamonte stars. "You like?"
"Yeah I like! You know I love yellow. But, hey! Don’t knock the songs, Lees! I like em, everyone else likes em. So there. But what bottoms you gonna wear?"
"I dunno. I was thinking my black and white cargos. I’m not sure though," Leesa said. Her pants were black velvet, and the cargo pockets were outlined in white luminous lining.
"Oh you mean those pants Fiona sent you? They’re like, all the rage in Australia aren’t they?"
"I love em! They are so comfy!" Leesa hit AJ playfully on the arm as he danced around the room to 5ive. He gave her back her CD-Man, and turned to her closet. "I dunno bout the cargos. Me thinks your black pinstripes with the detachable skirt. Cos then you can wear your black platforms with, and it’d look very sexy," he finished, holding out the pants he wanted her to wear.
"Spanx for the advice, Xander. I love having you around like this! It’s just like old times, remember? Like before I went out on my first date with Brett! God, I was so nervous!"
"You think I don’t remember?" AJ laughed, as he recalled the night. Leesa was pacing around the room, her hair all out of place, and completely clueless as to what to wear. AJ had calmed her down, picked out her clothes, and helped her with every thing else. She had never forgotten that night, and how much it meant to her that he’d helped her. She walked over to him and gave him a hug.
He looked down in surprise. "What is that for?"
"Just cos you’re you, and I love ya!" was all she said as she broke away from him and got dressed. He sat down on the bed, waiting for her. They were attending a press conference held for the promotion of their tour. She came out of the bathroom in her bra and the pinstripes.
"Are you sure about this top? I’m thinking more the green three-quarter," she said, holding the top up against her chest. AJ looked her over, and agreed.
"Try it on anyways," he advised.
She walked over to the closet and pulled out the top she wanted. As she held it up to her, she turned to AJ.
"Yay or nay?" she asked, using her mom’s favorite expression.
"Nay. Here, let me help," he said as he walked over to join her.
He pulled out a denim jacket, and a gray baby tee with sequined stars stitched all over. He held it up against her, from behind. She looked it over, comparing it with the green three-quarter. As she did, AJ breathed in her perfume, his favorite girls perfume. Tommy Girl. He’d bought it for her as a present the first time he had to miss her birthday. He’d also sent her a dozen white roses for each year (she’d just turned 16 then), which she had loved. She’d sent him a picture taken of her buried in the roses. He remembered the look on her face from the picture. It took permanent residence in his wallet.
"…AJ! Wake up!" she snapped her fingers in front of his face, breaking his trance.
"Sorry, what were you saying?"
"Just that I like your top better. Wanna swap?"
"No way! There is no way you’re gonna get this shirt off me," he protested as her fingers clawed at his shirt.
"Fine, be a spoilsport. I guess I’ll have to wear the denim then," she pouted, pulling the baby tee over her head. The top reached just above her torso, and showed off the new belly button jewel she had gotten put in. It was blue, with silver sparkles throughout it. It was cute, and showed off her green eyes beautifully.
He smiled as she threw the jacket over her shoulder.
"Come on, miss! We gotta motor! We’re gonna be late!"
They hurried out of the room, and Leesa almost collided with Howie, who came out of his room at the same time. They stood, staring at each other, in an uncomfortable silence. AJ broke the tension.
"D? You still here? Look, man, come wit’ us," he offered.
"Oh, no, it’s ok, I’ve got my car," Howie replied quietly. He was well known to hold grudges for ages, and it was getting to Leesa. It had been 4 weeks since she had "come out of the broom closet", and she was sick of the tension between them.
"Oh come on, Howie. I’m getting so sick of this. Even if we don’t go back to the way we were, let’s at least act civil towards each other," Leesa cried impatiently.
"Fine! What do I care?" he mumbled.
AJ clapped. "Good, it’s settled. Come on, D!"
He grabbed Leesa by the jacket and pulled her towards the stairs. Howie lagged behind, and Leesa turned around to call to him.
"Come on, slow poke!"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah."
