~*Chapter Eighteen*~
AJ and Leesa collapsed onto Leesa’s bed, absolutely exhausted by the concert tonight. Who would have known that Brisbane, Australia would have been so energetic. The Boys and Leesa thought that tonight would have been one of the more quieter concerts - not so. But they didn’t mind.
AJ sat up suddenly and looked at Leesa. He’d just realised what tonight was - what tonight meant to them.
"Lees," he started. Leesa sat up and faced him, wondering what he was about to say.
"Do you know what today is?"
"Ummm, the 21st of November?"
"Yeah, but not just that. It’s special Leesa, you have to think about it."
"God, you know that I suck with dates, Xander," she protested, trying hard to remember what he was talking about. Then it suddenly came to her.
"I know! I know! It’s been 5 months since you told me you loved me!" she cried joyfully.
"I’m glad you remembered, otherwise I might’ve had to kill you," he laughed, leaning over to give her a small kiss.
"So what, you think that cos I remembered this night, it gives you privilege to kiss me? Huh, what’s the big deal buster?" Leesa pulled away from AJ and asked him playfully.
"No big deal - not yet, anyways," AJ laughed back. Leesa stood up, shocked.
"What was that? What a witty play on words, Mr. McLean! Now, pray tell, how was I meant to take that last comment uttered through those gorgeous lips of yours?"
"Baby, you can take it any way that you want to take it," he told her quietly, leaning over to kiss her again. As their lips came together, a knock came at the door. Leesa groaned, and pulled away from AJ.
She walked over to the door, calling out "Who is it?"
"Room Service," came the muffled reply.
Leesa looked puzzled, turning to AJ in the hopes of confirmation of the order of room service. He looked just as puzzled as she, and shrugged. Leesa continued to walk over to the door, and opened it.
A young man walked into the room, pushing a carriage in front of him, a tray covered by a silver lid.
"Who ordered this?" Leesa asked the young man, who turned slowly towards her, a smile on his dark face.
"Baby, you did," he laughed, pulling out a knife and lunging toward Leesa.
She screamed, and ran. The young man ran after her, but AJ was in hot pursuit. AJ dove into the young man in a football style tackle, knocking him to the floor. The young man looked up at AJ who was on top of him, smiling slyly. "Who invited you?" he asked, before driving the knife into AJ’s side.
AJ grunted in pain, and slid off the young man. As AJ lay groaning on the floor the young man got up and ran after Leesa, who by this time had raced next door to Kevin’s room, and called hotel security. The Boy’s bouncers had reached the room by this time, and were in the process of apprehending the young man. As his arms were wrenched behind his back, the young man looked at Leesa, shaking in Kevin’s strong arms.
"It’s not over baby, it’ll never be over until I get what I want from you," he laughed.
The security guard who was holding him pulled him forcefully away from the group and dragged him down the hallway, where the hotel security stood ready and waiting.
Leesa looked up at Kevin’s tall frame. "I need to see Xander! Where is he? Take me to him now!"
She broke free of his arms and ran to the next room where AJ lay on the floor, holding his side and grimacing in pain. He looked down at his shaking hand, where blood seeped through his fingers and stained the floor.
"Baby, stay with me," Leesa begged, tears racing down her flushed cheeks. She kissed away the silent tears that had fallen from AJ’s eyes as he lay on the floor in distress. He opened his closed eyes, and smiled painfully at her.
"I’ll never leave, not even if you kill me," he whispered, as Leesa bent down to kiss him softly, hoping to take his mind off the pain as the paramedics arrived, and entered the room.
"You’ll have to get up, ma’am," one of the paramedics said, as he pulled Leesa away from AJ.
Leesa cried out, "NO! I don’t wanna go away, he needs me!"
Kevin had entered the room also, and he guided the hysterical Leesa away from AJ and the paramedics. He whispered in her ear, "Lees, if you want AJ to live, you gotta let them do their job. He’ll be alright, you wait and see."
