My Favorite Links

These are some of my favorite links. If you're ready to gain some knowledge about TBI you're at the right place!

I've tried to place a lot of things in one area so you won't have to spend months researching as I have had to do since my brain injury. There is such a vast amount of information out there, just knowing where to find it and being able to read and understand it can be a major draw back. I've tried to link you to a few to get you started and help you understand.

Traumatic Brain Injury is a life long trauma. The initial damage is not always the 'only' damage. It is a daily struggle of finding SELF. Something which most of us have left behind somewhere. We are usually aware that person existed "somewhere", we just don't know where they went. To know that you are physically the same person....you look the same....but somehow deep inside you know that you are NOT that same person you once knew. That is one of the hardest struggles we will ever have to make in our lives.

How you accept yourself and your brain injury can make or break you. There will be questions that you won't know how to ask, and answers that you just can't seem to find. SEARCH for them! Don't EVER give up until you have them in the palm of your hand! And then stand back and try to ask yourself, "Is this the answer that I was looking for?" "Can I live with this decision?" CAN YOU? Only YOU can answer that question. Only YOU may know when and if you've found what you've been looking for.

And while you're asking yourself these questions remember this....without KNOWLEDGE my people die. Don't be the one who doesn't question when your GUT tells you that something isn't right. It's that lack of knowledge that may be the turning point in your life. And when you feel like you're just going crazy? Look for others that have been there before you. SEEK them out and ASK! Those questions will never be laughed at by another tbi survivor, for we have all been there before. We know the pain, the frustration, the inability that wasn't there "before" the trauma. Don't be afraid. Don't shut yourself in. SPEAK OUT! For it is through OUR voices that we help ourselves and those who will follow in our steps. WE are the SURVIVORS! WE must be heard!

God bless you and keep you all safe and resting in His gentle hands.
