Chapter 6-10

Chapter 6

Alison brought two steaming mugs of herbal tea and sat them down on the coffee table to let them cool off.  "Livvie, you need to get some closure on this issue of Jack.  I don't want to hurt you by saying this but I really believe that he is in love with Shelly.  I wasn't sure of them as a couple at first since I thought he was just dating her to make you jealous after you two broke up but now I think he does love her."

"How can he just forget everything we ever shared?  I can't forget him."  Livvie cried harder.

"I don't think he has forgotten those times.  Sometimes you just can't make things work out.  You need to let it go."

Livvie vehmently replied, "I will not let go of him.  He will come back to me.  I know it in my heart.  If I have anything to do about it Jack will not get married tomorrow!"

"Livvie, please don't go and do something that you will regret later on.  Let go of Jack.  You two are not meant to be."

Livvie sits for a minutes trying to sort our her thoughts, "Maybe, you are right Alison.  It is just so hard for me to accept this.  I feel like my heart has been ripped out.  I feel so lost without him."

Alison pats her hand, "You will get through these bad times and one day there will be someone else for you.  Just remember you have friends that love and care about you."

Livvie gives her a weak smile, "Thanks Alison. You don't know how much our friendship means to me."

Jack and Shelly had returned to apartment after having dinner with Jamal and were talking when Eve comes knocking on the door.  Shelly answers the door finding her flustered sister standing there.  Eve pushes her way into the room.  "Thanks alot guys for not cluing me in that Chris was going to be there tonight.  He shocked the hell out of me when I saw him walk through the door of the church tonight."

Shelly tries to calm her irate sister down.  "Weren't you glad to see him again?  Jack and I thought it would be a nice surprise for you.  You always told me how much you had missed Chris ever since he left town.  I thought you would be happy to see your friend again."

Jack chimed in, "I didn't even know if he would actually show up.  I didn't want to disappoint you if he changed his mind about coming to the wedding."

Eve turned on Jack, "How long have you known where he was?  Don't you think I might have liked to known of his whereabouts?"

Jack was taken aback by Eve's abrupt questions.  "Eve, I swear I have only known for a week."

Shelly went to her sister's side, "We didn't know that seeing him again would upset you.  That was not our intention of keeping his coming here a secret from you."

Eve paced around the apartment for a few moments before adding, "I know it's not your fault.  I mean I'm glad to see him again.  I have wondered and thought about where he could have been all this time.  He just infuriates me sometimes.  I tried to get him to talk about things tonight and he just shut down on me.  He made me so mad tonight I would love to give him a swift kick in the rear!"

Jack told them, "You have to understand it is really hard for Chris to open up and be honest about his feelings.  We had such a hard time growing up with a role model like Henry for a father.  He taught us to put ourselves first and the world be damned what they thought of you for doing that.  After Mom died, Henry pretty much left us to fend for ourselves and since Chris was the oldest he had most of the responsibilities for us kids.  I didn't appreciate all the things he had to sacrifice for us at the time.  He was just a kid that had to grow up overnight and try to provide for Anne, Elizabeth and me.  He virtually had no childhood to speak of since he had to find ways to keep our family going.  I wish you could have known him before our mother died.  He was the most awesome big brother there ever was even though we had some pretty tough situations to live in.  I can remember hearing him tell Anne one night that he would never love anyone again because loving some one ended up hurting you when they left you.  All that you ever got for loving someone was getting your heart trampled upon and he said he wasn't going to feel the way he did after mom died ever again.  He changed after all of that and hardened his heart to the world.  Nobody was going to get that close to him."

Eve said, "I know when Chris and I met he always looked out for himself.  I was the same way, I was going to be a doctor for the money and the power that came with the job.  We were a team back then.  He always looked out for me though.  I wish maybe I could have done some things differently in our friendship and he wouldn't have left town in the first place."

Jack replied, "I just want Chris and I to be able to be there for one another like brothers should be.  You and Shelly are close and I hope this time Chris and I will be able to put the past behind us and be a family."

Shelly went to Jack, "It takes work and a whole lot of love Jack.  Eve and I haven't always been this close with each other.  I think you asking Chris to be your best man is a step in the right direction to building your relationship with him."

Jack took Shelly into his arms, "I am so grateful to you Shelly Lambert.  Things just keep getting better all of the time.  You have help turn my life around.  I think if it is ok with you I am going to go over and see Chris."

"I think that is a good idea.  Eve and I will have one of our girl talks before she goes home."  Shelly kisses Jack as he heads out the door.

Eve looked so far away.  Shelly knew Eve had feelings for Chris whether she wanted to admit them or not.  Maybe she could help her sister face the feelings she had for Chris Ramsey.

Chapter 7

Chris was well on his way to becoming drunk by the time Jack showed up on his doorstep.  After Eve had dropped her bombshell on him, he just stood there stunned at the news of what she had told him.  He couldn't believe that she wasn't married to Ian.  He wondered what had transpired between the two of them after he had left town.  It was kind of ironic since he and Eve always had the worst timing in the world on all things concerning them.  Jack came into the suite and saw his brother sitting down on the couch with beer bottles surrounding the entire coffeetable.  Some bottles were empty and some looked like they were waiting in line to be drunk.  Jack grabbed a beer and sat down beside his brother.  Chris took another sip of his beer before asking, "Jack, what are you doing here?  I thought you and Shelly were going home for some quiet alone time before the wedding tomorrow."

Jack opened his beer and smiled, "Tomorrow night Shelly and I will have all the alone time we want.  I just decided to come by and hang out with you for a little bit."

Draining the rest of his beer then slamming it down on the table, Chris got another beer and told Jack, "I'm probably not the best of company right now."

Jack laughed, "When are you ever good company?"  Chris shot him a dirty look before Jack added, "Just kidding, man.  By the way, Shelly and I had kind of an upset visitor a few minutes before I came by to see you tonight."

Chris feigned ignorance, "Really, who was that?"

"A certain pretty dark haired doctor who I'm almost certain of that she used to be best friends with you."

Chris put his bottle down and sighed, "The operative word there, little brother, is used to be, as in past tense.  Eve and I haven't been best friends in a very long time.  There is no use in pretending like we are best buddies now."

Jack rolled his eyes, "Try that bull on someone else, brother.  You still care about Eve and what happens to her.  I would have to be blind not to see how you were looking at her tonight."

Chris lied, "I don't know what you are talking about.  I was just kind of thrown off guard seeing her there and also by the fact that you were marrying her little sister."

Jack cracked up laughing, "You are such a liar.  Come on never try to con another Ramsey.  I know you want her.  When I came to Port Charles she was the only person you really gave a damn about.  You could treat everyone else around here like crap but Eve was always the exception to the rule."

"Think what you want little brother.  I think your being in love is making you philosophical in your old age.  I admit to nothing."  With that remark Chris drained another beer.

Seeing as he couldn't get anything else out about Eve from him, Jack decided he wouldn't bother him about this subject anymore tonight.  They talked of other things and drank beer well onto the wee hours of the morning.

Eve was looking out the window into the starry night sky when Shelly came and stood beside her.  "Eve, you want to talk about what happened with you and Chris tonight?"

Eve tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and sat on the bay window sill, "I don't know why seeing Chris again is bothering me this badly."

Shelly asked, "Could it be that you might have feelings for him that you didn't plan on where he was concerned?"

Eve shrugged her shoulders, "Shelly, it is hard to explain.  I honestly don't know how I feel about Chris.  I'm so confused by my reactions to him.  I don't see how he can make me go from one extreme to the other in a blink of an eye.  I have gone from shocked, to happy, to sad, to downright mad at him all in the space of a few short hours.  I can't even begin to think about all these emotions running rampant in my system right now.  I have really gotten control of my life since Madison was born and I don't want to be feeling these crazy feelings he is conjuring up in me."

Shelly quietly said, "All I can tell you is that you need to try and sort out these feelings and more importantly talk them out with Chris.  He needs to know what you are thinking and feeling about him.  If you don't tell him what is going on with you he might slip away again and you will have lost your chance to tell him all these things.  I bet he would like to know how badly you missed him and what it felt like when he was gone from your life.  If he is as an important of a friend to you as you say he was, you need to be honest with him and try to figure out how to make your friendship work again."

"Can't you see, I don't know how and what it is that I need to say to him.  If I could get some kind of direction to go in to start to tell him what he means to me, maybe I wouldn't feel this confused.  He has always driven me crazy.  I don't know how this one man can do it, but he does."

Shelly put her arm around her sister, "Listen to your heart Eve.  If you really do some soul searching about him I think your heart will lead you in the right direction to take concerning Chris."

Eve got up to go, "I wouldn't be so sure about my heart telling me the right thing to do.  My heart has lead me to do some pretty strange things in the past."

Shelly smiled at her, "Go home.  Please consider what I have said to you.  I love you sis."

Eve gave Shelly a hug.  "I love you too.  Thanks for listening to me tonight."

"Anytime you need me, I am here for you Eve."

Eve left for home thinking about all her sister had said to her and wondering why did life seem to get complicated for her whenever Chris Ramsey was around.

Chapter 8

Eve let herself into her apartment trying to be quiet so as not to wake up Madison and Jessica, who had already fallen asleep.  After she had checked on her sleeping child, she went to her favorite chair and thought about Shelly's advice to follow her heart.   Following her heart had led her down some diasterious roads in her lifetime.  At first Eve had thought she would fall apart after her breakup with Ian, but she had not felt right about marrying him immediantly.  She had told Ian that she needed a little time to find out who she was, since she had lost so much of herself on the way.  She couldn't believe she had actually told him that, but it was what she had felt was the right thing to do at the time.  Ian had been furious at her for that decision since he said they were destined to be together.  He had talked of all their previous lifetimes and she had countered back about how every time their relationship had failed due to some obstacle.  Ian had told her the only obstacle was her reluctance to start their life together by marrying him since he had received the annulment papers from Arianna.  Ian had been adamant that this time there was nothing standing in their way.  She had been in love with Ian, but a small voice kept bringing doubt into her mind.

Then when the news came that Chris had resigned from the hospital without a word to her, she had been devastated.  Ian had accused her of having feelings for Chris and that was insane since he cared for no one but himself.  Eve had taken up for Chris by stating that Chris was the only one who had been there for her when Ian had been trying to save the world and leaving her alone.  When Ian asked her if there had been anything going on with her and Chris she told him the truth about their one night together when she had been so upset by the whole situation with Ian and Arianna.  Ian couldn't take her revelation and had questioned did she even know who the father of her child was.  Eve had told him to leave her alone and Ian did just that.  He left town to go back to the program of Docters Without Limits since he couldn't trust her anymore.  It had been hard for her during her pregnancy to face it alone, but it had also brought back her strong will and indepedence.  She learned the hard way to be happy with herself but it had been a good lesson for her.  Ian hadn't been the man she had thought him to be.

Why was she dredging up the past?  She had proved that she could make it on her own.  Sometimes she wished she had someone special in her life, but she had to provide Madison with a stable enviroment and that meant not bouncing around from man to man like her mother had done to her and Shelly after their father had left them.  Eve vowed she wouldn't do that to her child.  No man was better than one that wouldn't stay around.  Maybe that is why she was so mad at Chris tonight.  He had deserted her when she needed him the most but when she faced the facts she had pushed him away from her.

She remembered  the day at the cabin when Chris had came to find her since she had not come back to town after she had told him she would earlier.  She could see the worry in his eyes and she was touched by his concern for her.  Chris had stood by her when she found out that she was pregnant.  He had been her sole confidant until she had sought solace at the cabin when she was searching for answers about what direction to take her life in.

When Chris saw the disappointment in her when it was him there instead of Ian he had been crushed.  He had came to ask her once more to marry him.  She try to recall what they had said to one another that day.

*Note to readers - part of the following excerpt in italics was from the actual
show on Port Charles.  I am in no way taking credit for writing these lines but I
thought it was important to place them in the story.

"I should have called you, Chris."

"That doesn't sound encouraging."

Eve began again, "Look, I will always care about you."

Chris looked at Eve doubtfully, "Now it's getting worse."

"You have been so sweet, kind and generous."

Chris realizing the direction she was going in told her, "Eve, just put me out of my misery, make it quick, come on."

Eve was struggling to find the correct words to say.  "Chris, what you have done, the way you care for me and my baby, asking me to marry you.  It's incredible, it's beyond incredible."

Chris cuts in, "My proposal isn't completely alturistic."

Eve looks to him, "I know I'm just not ready for marriage."

Chris quietly speaks, "Not with me anyway."

After they had talked some more Chris had pled his case to her one more time.   His voice full of sincerity, "I know I've done alot of rotten things over the years, but I can change and I would change for you and the baby.  Just give me a chance.  I could make you both so happy."

"You really believe that, don't you?"

Before he answered her question he took a deep breath, "Yeah, I do.  I really do because the truth is part of me has always loved you."

Eve remembered the look in his eyes when she had told him she loved him too and then she had went on to say how they would always be the best of friends.  He had looked so sad by the time they had finished their conversation.  Now sitting back in her apartment Eve wondered if he had meant loving her with something more than the mere friendship they had shared.  Could it have been possible that Chris had actually been in love with her romantically?  She had been so wrapped up in her problems with Ian that maybe she had failed to see what Chris had been trying to tell her all along.  She thought back to their conversation earlier tonight when Chris refused to say anything to her question about that day so long ago.  Why had things gone to wrong tonight?  Eve rubbed her eyes and decided she better try to get some sleep because her thoughts were driving her crazy with the possibilities of what her life could have been like if she had only told Chris yes when he had asked her to marry him.

Chapter 9

The pounding on the door woke Chris from his sleep.  He drug himself out of bed thinking who in the world would be bothering him this morning.  His head was aching due to the excess of beers he and Jack had consumed last night.  He grabbed his robe struggling to put it on as he jerked open the door.  "What in god's name are you doing, pounding on my door at this hour of the morning?"

She walked in smiling and carrying his suit for the wedding in her left hand.  "Ramsey, I knew you would oversleep.  You always did when we lived together."

He crankily replied, "I did not oversleep Lambert."

She put his suit down and crossed her arms, "Oh yeah?  What time do you think it is?"

Chris scowled at Eve, "I don't know but it is too early for you to be so bright and chipper.  I've got to get some asprin.  My head is killing me."

Eve looked at her watch, "You better get yourself in gear.  It's eleven thirty and we have to be dressed and ready for pictures at one.  The wedding starts at three.  Didn't Jack tell you any of this?"

Chris mumbled sarcastically, "I guess all those details must have slipped my mind."

Eve went into the kitchen to get Chris a glass of water to take with his asprin.  "You better get in a good mood Ramsey.  Your brother is getting married today and you are not going to be grouchy."

Chris took the glass of water from her and swallowed his asprin.  "Thanks,"  He assessed her attire, "speaking of getting ready, why aren't you all dressed up for the festivities?"

She twirled around for him, then put her hands on her hips.  "Don't you like my outfit for the wedding?"  She modeled herslef dressed in her t-shirt and sweat pants with her hair all pulled up in a pony tail.  She started giggling as she pranced around the room.

Her good mood finally got to him and he laughed with her, "For my tastes I always thought you looked good no matter what you were wearing.  I guess for today though, your sister would kill you if you decided to show up in that outfit."

Her eyes sparkled, "See, that's what I have been missing, the Ramsey charm.  You were the best when it came to compliments."

He came around to face her, "I guess you did miss me a little bit."

She took his hands in hers and looked into his eyes.  "Chris, if you don't know that by now, then you really don't know me at all."

Chris felt his hands burning at the slight touch from Eve's hands.  "I knew you better than anyone else. The most amazing thing was that I still liked you just the way you were.  You didn't have to put on any false fronts with me."

She stepped back from him a few inches, "I say you better get ready before my sister comes after you for messing up her schedule."

"God forbid I have another Lambert woman on my case.  I'm going to get a shower.  Care to join me?"

Eve taunted him, "You couldn't handle it, Ramsey."

Chris pulled her back to him and wrapped his arms around her waist.  Eve could feel his muscular body through the thin robe he was wearing.  She closed her eyes for a minute just enjoying the closeness of him.  He whispered in her ear, "In case you have forgotten, I can handle you very well Eve."  He let her go and walked into the bathroom to get  a shower.

After Chris walked away from Eve she stood still trying to comprehend her reaction to him.  She had actually wanted to turn around to face him and call his bluff.  She should have told him she would join him in the shower.  It would have served him right for teasing her like that.  She decided she was definately losing it now, thinking these kinds of thoughts about Chris.  She thought about the reference he had just said of the night they had gotten so drunk and slept together.  It was just a jumble of hazy memories in her mind.  She had called Chris because Ian had hurt her so badly and they had one of their martini nights.  One thing had led to another with them and she couldn't even recall  all of what had taken place but she was sure they had been together.  Chris had never mentioned that night to her after it happened so she hadn't brought it up to him either.  The reference he gave her this morning was the first time he had even acknowledged their one night together.  This morning they had slipped back into the kidding and playful nature of their friendship until he had taken her into his arms.  She was glad they weren't fighting but she didn't know how she felt about him either.  The best she could do was try and enjoy his company while he was here.

Chris' confident attitude vanished as soon as he shut the bathroom door.  His whole body was on fire from having Eve in his arms again.  It had taken all of his self control not to have turned her around to face him and kiss her senseless.  He was thankful they had gotten off to a better start this morning.  He had hated her leaving upset last night.  He should have run after her, but he had been so stunned at the news that she wasn't married to Ian that he had let her go on before he could react to the situation.

He didn't know what had possessed him to bring up that night to Eve.  They had never spoke of what happened that night so long ago.  It had hurt him that Eve had never said a word about it to him.  He guessed she had been too ashamed to admit they had slept together.  He assumed her great love for Ian had made their night meaningless to her when it had meant the world to him.

He turned on the water as cold as he could stand it, trying to clear his mind from images of Eve.  How was he ever going to get over her?  Seeing her this weekend was just making it worse.  He wondered why she couldn't see that he was the man for her.  He could make her so happy if she would only give him a chance.  He had so many questions to ask her but they would have to wait until they could find some time, if that was even possible.

After Chris got out from his very cold shower, he wrapped a towel around his waist and went to get dressed.  He saw a note propped up on the kitchen counter.  He opened it up to  see Eve's handwriting.

                    Chris,
Got to run.  Hope you had fun in the shower.
I'll see you at the wedding.
                                                                   Love,
                                                                   Eve

Even though it was a simple note it reminded Chris of how he and Eve used to leave notes for each other when they were roommates at his apartment.  He wished for the thousandth time that he would have had enough sense to have told her all those years ago how he really had felt about her.  He shook his head realizing he couldn't change the past and went to get ready.

Chapter 10

Kevin and Lucy were having brunch when Livvie showed up at the lighthouse looking distraught.  Kevin welcomed Livvie into the living room.  Livvie looked like she had been up all night crying.  Her eyes were red and puffy.  Kevin took her by the arm, "Livvie, what has happened to you?  Why are you so upset?"

"Dad, I just don't know what to do."  She cried in a pitiful voice.

Kevin features looked disgusted, "This has something to do with Jack, doesn't it?"

Livvie starts trembling uncontrollably, "I love him so much.  I can't go through this all alone."

Lucy comes in and hugs Livvie.  "We are going to be here for you.  We are your family.  You have to know that you will never be alone."

Livvie runs her fingers through her unkept hair, "I know you both will always be here for me, but right now I'm so scared."

Kevin looks questioningly at her, "Scared of what, honey?  You have to tell me what is going on, so I can help you."

"I'm pregnant with Jack's child."

Kevin and Lucy turned to one another with bewildered looks on their faces.  Kevin asked Livvie, "When did this happen?"

Livvie hesitantly begins to tell them of the night about two months ago when she ran into Jack at Jake's after he had had a fight with Shelly.  Jack had one too many beers and Livvie offered to take him home.  She stopped by her apartment first and Jack spent the night there.

Kevin and Lucy listened to Livvie's story while she cried on and on.  Kevin grew angrier by the minute thinking of Jack's treatment of his daughter.

"Dad, please don't think I'm a terrible person.  I just don't know what to do.  I have never been in this type of situation before in my life and I don't know were to turn."

Kevin gets up and yanks the front door open, "I know what we are going to do.  Let's go."

Lucy asks, "Doc, where are you planning on going?"

Kevin replied, "To stop a wedding.  There is no way in hell that Jack is going to marry Shelly if he has gotten my daughter pregnant!"

--------------------------

Chris found Jack pacing in the side room of the church.  "Jack, are you ok?  You look kind of nervous in here."

Jack ran his fingers through his wild looking hair and stared at his reflection in the mirror.  "Of course I'm nervous.  I've never gotten married before and this wedding is starting in fifteen minutes."

Chris placed his hand on Jack's shoulder.  "You are not having second thoughts about marrying Shelly are you?  If you are not one hundred percent sure about this you need to stop this now before it goes any further."

Jack grabbed Chris, "No, I'm not having second thoughts about Shelly.  I love her with all of my heart.  I want to be a good husband and make her happy.  I don't want to disappoint her."

Chris grinned at his younger brother, "You will make her happy.  All you have to do is love her and give it your all to this marriage.  You are going to have a great life Jack.  It's about time one of us Ramsey's got a shot at happiness."

"Thanks for calming me down, Chris."  The music started.  "I believe that is our cue to get out there."

Chris walks over to the door and opens it for them.  "Lead the way little brother.  I'm right behind you."

Eve helps Shelly adjust her wedding veil one last time.  "You look beautiful Shelly."

Shelly's smile lit up her whole face.  "Thank you Eve.  I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate all you have done for me.  You are the best sister in the whole world.  I love you."

Smiling back, Eve hugs her, "I love you too.  It's time to go."

They turn to go out the door when they see Kevin, Lucy and Livvie standing in the foyer.

Shelly looks at Livvie, "Why are you here?  Jack has tried to be nice to you and this is how you repay him by showing up at our wedding.  He has told you time and time again that it is over between you two.  Please don't come here starting trouble and ruining our special day."

Kevin snidely remarks, "The way I see it, the only person who is going to ruin your day is none other than Jack."

Eve cuts in, "Kevin, I don't know what you are trying to pull but you three need to leave."

Lucy throws her two cents into the conversation.  "That's what you think Eve.  Can't you both see how devastated this poor girl is?  Look at her she has been crying for days."

Eve and Shelly both roll their eyes at this remark.  Eve calmly tells Jessica, "Please take Madison out of here.  She doesn't need to be in here listening to this mess."  Jessica nods and quickly takes Madison out of the room.

Jamal and Alison are sitting in the pews along with the rest of the guests looking at Jack expectantly.  The music keeps playing but the bride is no where to be seen.  Jack  nervously leans over to Chris with a look of fear in his eyes.  "Do you think Shelly isn't coming out here?"

Chris leans over to Jack and whispers, "Let me go check on them.  I'm sure they are running a little late with the finishing touches for Shelly's wedding dress or something like that.  You know how women are."  He walks down the aisle smiling at the guests like nothing is wrong.  He realizes how wrong he is when he gets to the foyer.

Kevin gets a disgusted look when he sees Chris walk into the room.  "I thought we were all going to be lucky enough never to have to see your face again."

Chris sarcastically replies, "Kevin, I'm so glad to see you too.  What the hell are you all doing here in the first place?  You were most definately not invited to this wedding."

By this time Jack comes back to check on what is happening.  He gets a look of complete disbelief on his face when he sees group of people standing there.  He looks to Livvie, "What are you doing here?

Kevin answers for her, "She didn't want to come but I made her.  We have got to talk to you Jack."

Eve says, "None of you should be here.  Why don't you all leave so we can get this wedding started. Jack doesn't have anything to say to you Livvie."

Lucy gives Eve a look that would kill.  "We are not going anywhere until this matter gets settled.  Livvie has something important to tell Jack and we are not leaving here until she gets the opportunity to do so."

Shelly is close to completely losing her temper, "Oh Livvie, let me guess.  You are going to try and tell Jack one more time how wrong I am for him.  How I will never be able to make him happy.  Well here is a newsflash for you.  I love Jack and he loves me.  Jack has tried to be honest with you about this for months.  Why can't you get it through your head that Jack wants me and not you?"

Lucy goes ballastic on Shelly.  "Why would he want someone like you?  You are no better than that slut of a sister you are related to.  If you hadn't of come to town Jack and Livvie would have been married a long time ago."

Eve grabs Lucy by the arm, "You bitch!  How dare you come in here causing trouble on my sister's wedding day?  As for calling me a slut, well you are just envious because no one will give you the time of day except for Kevin.  I guess you are getting too old to attract anyone under the age of forty now."

Lucy sneers at Eve, "Just jealous since you've had such a long dry spell Eve.  At least I've got a man since all you seem to do is run them off to parts unknown."

Eve slaps Lucy for all she is worth and sends her to the other side of the room.  Kevin turns to go to Lucy when Chris stops him.  "Kevin, this is ridiculous.  I'm sorry but whatever twisted ideal Livvie has up her sleeve to get Jack back is not going to work.  You better get out of here while you still can.  Your family has no place being here today."

Kevin laughs, "No wonder you act the way you do Jack. You have such an outstanding role model in your big brother here.  Both of you are losers."

Chris punches Kevin and knocks him down on the floor.  Shelly shouts, "Everyone stop it now!  This is insane!"

Jack goes beside Shelly, "Honey, I don't know why they are here but ..."

Kevin pulls himself off of the floor, "I'll tell you the reason we came here today.  We wanted to let you know that you are going to be a father in about seven months."

The color drains from Jack's face as he looks to Livvie, "I can't believe you are doing this to me."

Livvie starts crying once again, "I'm not doing anything to you.  I can't help how I feel about you Jack.  I love you and we are going to have a baby."

Jack asks, "Are you serious?  Are you really pregnant?"

Before Livvie can answer Shelly throws her bouquet of flowers at her.  "You know what, Livvie?  You whiny, crying whack job excuse for a human being.  You want him so bad, well you just take him!"

Jack tries to stop Shelly from running out the door.  "Shelly, please don't go.  This has got to be a big mistake.  I love you.  You are the one I want to spend the rest of my life with."

Shelly rips off her veil and throws it at Jack.  "The only mistake I made was trusting you in the first place.  Leave me the hell alone!"  She runs out of the church doors crying.

Jack goes to follow her but Eve and Chris grab a hold of him.  Jack struggles and says, "Let me go.  I've got to go and talk to Shelly and make her understand.  This can't be happening."

Eve tells Jack, "Let her go and cool off.  You don't want to be around her when she is this angry."

Jack starts shaking and puts his hand over his eyes.  "I've got to go into the church and tell everyone there is not going to be a wedding.  What have I done?"

Kevin states, "Well, I think it is pretty obvious what you have done.   You have ruined two girl's lives with your careless behavior."

Chris grabs Kevin by the collar.  "I'm warning you Collins.  Shut up now!"

Kevin spits out, "You two Ramsey brothers are just alike.  You both are nothing but trouble.  You poison everything you touch.  I hate the day Livvie ever laid eyes on either one of you."

Eve's voice was full of venom, "I guess the feeling is mutual about their meeting Livvie too.  She has done nothing but cause trouble for Jack and Chris.  Kevin, take your family and go.  Don't you think the three of you have caused enough trouble for one day?"

Kevin, Lucy and Livvie go leaving them standing there in shock of what just took place.  Eve goes to the doorway of the church.  "Jack, I will go and tell everyone that there is not going to be a wedding today.  You need to go home and sort out what you are going to do about this whole mess."

Jack's voice was barely audible, "If I even have a home to go back to."  He turns and walks out the door with his head hung down.

Chris looks to Eve, "And you wonder why I left this town?"

Eve cuts her eyes to him, "You wait here.  We have got to try and figure out how to get your brother and my sister back together again.  I know they love each other and it can't end like this for them.  They deserve to be happy."

Chris dryly remarks, "This should be interesting."  He rubs his sore hand from punching Kevin thinking what a day this turned out to be.
