An Ian and Eve Fic
Ian sat in his office trying hard to concentrate
on his work and not think about Eve, but it really wasn't working. He kept
picturing her in his mind, the way she played with her hair when she was
flattered by when someone said about her, the way she fluttered her eye
lashes when she really wanted something from him. He was totally in love.
Ian jumped from his pleasent thoughts of Eve when there was a knock at
the door.
''Come In!'' Ian shouted, trying to look busy
at his desk.
''Hey Ian! How's my Irish Hunk of a best friend
doing?''
Of course...it would be Eve.
''Hi! How are you? I'm doing great, just a
little swamped with work, as usual.''
''Well, I know how that is!'' Eve agreed.
''Is there anything I can do for you, Eve?
I really need to get out of here.'' Ian said as he started to gather his
things into his briefcase.
''Oh-No, what a coin-ke-dink! I was just leaving
too. Kevin's no where to be found and I want to go get some drinks. And
YOU'RE the lucky guy who gets to go with me! Come on, I won't take no for
an answer. I never do.''
''How can I say no to that?'' Ian never could.
He was just torturing himself and he knew that, but he needed to be near
her.
Ian followed her to the bar and Eve constantly
caught herself glancing at him in her rearview mirror.
''What's my deal?'' She asked herself. ''I'm
married. He's in NO WAY shape or form interested in me. Okay...we're here
- Chill Out, Eve!'' She pep talked herself as she grabbed her purse out
of the passengers seat.
Ian watched her as she struggled getting her
act together. He decided to go over and help her. She was such a klutz
and if he didn't help her he knew she'd have issues.
''Thanks, Dude! What would I do without you?''
''Who knows!'' Ian said while laughing at
her.
They walked into the bar, and he took her
black leather coat off for her and hung it on the back of her chair. Ian
and Eve ordered their usual. Then Eve got that look on her face, like she
wanted something.
''Ok Lambert...what is it now?'' Ian asked.
''Oh-nothing...I was just wondering what you
were thinking about! You're always so secretive.''
''Well, actually I was thinking that we're
going to dance! C'mon, you owe me!'' Ian reminder her of the last time
he did her a favor.
''You don't have to ask me twice! I love dancing
and I love this song! Lets go, man!'' Eve agreed to the dance without a
second thought.
Close my eyes at night,
And wonder what would I be without you in
my life.
Everything was just a bore-
All the things I did seems like I'd done 'em
before...
But you brighten up all my days,
With a love so sweet in so many ways.
I wanna stop- and thank you bay~bay.
I wanna stop- and thank you bay~bay...
He led her out onto the dance floor. Ian hasn't
been the same since they escaped from Harris' compound. He couldn't believe
she didn't remember that they confessed their love for each other. It killed
him, and the day after tomorrow Eve and Kevin wer renewing their wedding
vows. It seemed there was nothing he could do to make her remember. She
would have to on her own.
Suddenly the fast song ended and became a
slow one:
I try but I can't seem to get myself to think
of anything but you
Your breath on my face, your warm gentle kiss
I taste the truth
I taste the truth
We know what I came here for
So I won't ask for more
I Wanna Be With You
If only for a night
To be the one, who's in your arms, who holds
you tight
I Wanna Be With You
There's nothing more to say
There's nothing else I want more than to feel
this way
I Wanna Be With You
Ian went to pull away.
''No...lets keep dancing.'' Eve insisted.
Ian wasn't about to argue.
Eve started to remember dancing with Ian before
but wasn't sure if it was all just a dream or a fantasy, or if it could
be true. But all she knew was it was time to find out. The song ended and
they walked over to the table where their Kamekazi's were awaiting them.
''Ian - I have a question...'' As Eve sipped
her drink, she continued. ''Ok, a lot of questions for you.''
''Sure, what about?'' Ian became very curious
about what she was going to ask.
''Well, this is kind of hard for me to say...and
I really don't even know where to start.'' Eve was getting very nervous
about telling Ian what she was picturing in her mind.
''Just say what you feel, Eve.''
He always knew just what to say to make her
feel more comfortable.
''Okay, here's the thang: I've been having
all these visions in my head. I really wouldn't call them memories, because
I don't know if they really happeend of not...So, I gues what I'm saying
is- I want you to tell me everything that happened while we were being
held captive.''
Ian had been waiting forever, since they'd
gotten back and he found out she didn't remember anything, for her to say
those very words.
''How about this...a lot happened there, so
you tell me what you're remembering and I'll let you know if it really
happened and then fill you in on the rest.'' Ian suggested.
''Good Idea! When did you get so smart? Alright...When
I left the hospital the nurse handed me this bracelet and said I was wearing
it. Now, I know it's yours..but how come I have it?''
''Well, it was Christmas Eve and we decided
to have our own celebration. You were quite upset about not having any
gifts...''
''HA! Sounds like me!'' Eve broke in with
her loud laugh.
Ian then continued with a smile...
''So I decided to give you my bracelet since
you're the only one I've ever told the meaning behind it to.''
''Oh gosh...Ian, but that thing means so much
to you! I couldn't possibly keep it!''
''No, Eve I want you to keep it...because
you mean so much to me.'' Ian then thought about what he had said.
''Oh well..she had to find out sooner or later
and I might as well tell her now since she's wanting to know.'' Ian thought
to himself.
''Aw..well thanks. I'll never take it off
again. Could you put it back on me?''
Ian gladly put it back on her wrist. As their
hands touched Eve felt something flash inside her, something so familiar
but yet she couldn't place what it was exactly. Until she pictured in her
mind what had happened between them after he gave her his bracelet.
''Eve - are you okay?'' Ian asked as he was
still holding her hand.
''Yeah, but tell me this, did we dance afterward?''
Eve had just remembered that and was for sure it had to be true. It felt
to real to not be.
''Yes, Eve! Are you remembering now?'' Ian
was so excited she was finally remembering.
''Yes, but tell me the rest!'' She insisted
on him filling her in on all the sorted details.
Ian then began telling Eve everything. From
when he saved her from her ''obligation'' to Harris, when Ian drank the
poison and when they almost made love in the cabin and confessed their
love to each other.
''Wow! I remember all of that Ian! I have
for days now, but I juts figured they were all fantasies of some kind,
or whatever, I really don't know! I've been wanting to ask you about it,
but just felt stupid! But it's such a relief knowing it was all true!''
Ian just sat there smileing at her wondering
when she'd finally realize she is in love with him and renewing her wedding
vows in two days.
Sure enough, after she carried on for about
10 minutes Eve came back down to Earth:
''Oh My God! Ian, what are we going to do?!
Deep in my heart I knew I loved you but I didn't know it was mutual. I
thought I was just dreaming and hit my head way too hard in that accident
or something. But the feeling is mutual right? Eve said while freaking
out.
''Yes..of course it is Eve, I've loved you
since I laid eyes on that beautiful, slightly spaztic head of yours. It
killed me that night in the hospital after your accident you didn't remember
what happened between us. I've been wanting to tell you ever since!''
''God..Why didn't you? I'm so sorry!'' Eve
said as she moved into the chair next to Ian.
''You don't have to apologize. I'm just glad,
I knew you'd remember! I didn't want to force you to remember. Just know
Eve, I love you. Not just now - but for always.''
Ian then held her face in his hands, and she
leaned in to kiss him. Eve had never felt so at home then when she did
with Ian.
''What am I going to do, Ian? I can't let
what we have slip away again..It means way too much to me. But I'm supposed
to renew my vows to Kevin on Sunday! I have to tell him.''
''Well I can tell you one thing, I'm not letting
you tell him by yourself, look what happened last time I let you do that.
You got yourself hit by a car!'' Ian tried to lighten the mood.
''I'm not leaving your side ever again. I
love you.'' Eve said to Ian. Then broke the tenderness ...''Bartender!
'Nother round!'' She said as she hit the table with her hand ''We need
to think of a plan - my partner in crime!''
After almost an hour of thinking and some
scheming about what Eve would tell Kevin there was really only one logical
way to do it. Tell him the truth.
''Oh is it really 10:45? Kevin's probably
really worried. Should we go now and tell him?'' Ian suggested.
''Yup! Lets go!'' Eve held out her hand for
Ian as she stood up. He grabbed their jackets and her hand as they walked
together out the door.
''I really don't think I can drive home. I
have too much on my mind. Do you think you could drive?''
''Sure thing!'' Ian said as he opened the
passenger door of his car for her.
They were on their way back to Kevins and
Ian decided to turn on the radio. He understood why Eve would be so quiet.
She rolls the window down
And she talks over the sound
Of the cars that pass us by
I don't know why, but she's changed my mind
You look at her, she looks at me
She's got me thinking about her constantly
But she don't know how I feel
She carries on without a doubt
I wonder if she's figured out
I'm crazy for this girl
This song always reminded him of her. Ian looked
over at Eve. She was gazing out the window. He was wondering if she was
having second thought about what they were doing.
''No of course not!'' She answered. ''I want
this more than anything. I'm just thinking about what I'm going to say.
But knowing you're going to be there with me means the world.'' Eve knew
this was what she wanted without a doubt. They exchanged 'I love you's'
and Eve leaned over and kissed Ian on the cheek.
Just then Eve's cell phone rang. She dug through
the mess in her purse and answered it.
''Hello? Oh...Hi Kevin...yeah, I'm on my way
home now...I'll be there soon..sorry, yeah I know..it's late.. Bye.''
''He's worried?'' Ian asked.
''Nah...he's fine.''
They finally got there and stood outside Ians
car for a few minutes, which seemed like eternity before they decided to
walk up to the house. But not before a kiss from Ian.
''We're doing the right thing, I know we are.''
Eve was now ready. Everything she's ever wanted was in Ian.
She pulled her keys out of her black Gucci
bag and unlocked the door as Ian followed her through the door.
''Kevin? I'm home!'' Eve shouted through the
house. She was getting a little nervous, but yet she was excited at the
same time, knowing that she and Ian could finally be together soon.
''Hey Eve! I'm upstairs, I'll be right down.''
They heard Kevin loud and clear. Ian felt a little awkward but knew he
had to be there. For Eve.
''In the mean time, would you like anything
to eat or drink?'' Eve offered to Ian.
''No thanks. I'm good.'' Ian declined. How
could he possibly eat or drink at a time like this.
''Hey...where have you been all night Eve?''
Kevin said as he came down the stairs. ''Ian, what are you doing here?''
''He drove me home, Kevin. We went for drinks
after work. I've remembered everything that happened while I was gone.
We really need to talk.'' Eve wanted to get this all over with.
''Well - can't it wait until tomorrow? I've
had a long day. We can talk tomorrow on our way to pick up your car.''
He dismissed her, as always.
''No, Kevin..she needs to talk to you now.''
Ian felt the need to step in.
''Okay Ian - maybe if you'd leave I could
have a decent conversation with my wife '' Kevin always seemed to put emphasis
on those two words. Or at least Ian thought. Maybe he was just being paranoid.
''No - Kevin, I want him to stay.'' Eve broke
in before Ian could defend himself.
''Eve - What is this all about?'' Kevin was
very annoyed.
''When Ian and I were kidnapped, actually
it was before that, I started to develop feelings for Ian...A connection...''
Kevin started to say something but Eve stopped
him with her next sentence.
''Kevin, I love him...'' Eve turned to Ian
and grabbed his hand for strength.
''What are you talking about? We're renewing
our vows in two days...it was YOUR idea.'' Kevin was in denial.
''I know it, but I was having all these visions
in my head that I thought were just dreams but they weren't. I remembered
everything that happened between Ian and I.'' Eve felt like the weight
of the world had been lifted from her shoulders.
Kevin didn't exactly know what to say. But
Ian did.
''Eve, go get anything you may need for tonight
and we'll get the rest of your stuff tomorrow.''
Eve slowly turned around and walked up the
stairs to her and Kevins room. She couldn't say she wasn't upset, but she
couldn't imagine it happening any other way. It was fate her and Ian be
together.
She gathered some PJ's, clothes, make up and
other personal items and neatly put them into her leopard roll away suitcase.
She took off her wedding ring and set it on the night stand.
Meanwhile, downstairs -Ian decided to wait
outside to avoid any conflict with Kevin and so Eve could say good bye
to him when she came down. Kevin really didn't know what to make of all
this. But what could he do? She obviously couldn't deny her feelings for
Ian.
Eve came down the stairs with her suitcase
in tow.
''He's outside.'' Kevin simply stated.
''Thanks. Listen Kevin, I'm sorry - but I
love him, and you can't help who you fall in love with. When I met Ian,
it's like I crashed into love rather than fell. I'm not sorry for loving
him - just sorry that I hurt you in the process.'' Eve felt bad, but inside
she was so happy to be able to be with Ian.
Eve walked out the door leaving her life with
Kevin behind her, and walking toward her future with Ian. She saw Ian standing
at the end of the walkway with his arms crossed - smiling at her with that
trade mark smile she never could resist. She started to run toward him,
dropped her suitcase and jumped into his arms.
''Ahhhh!! I'm so happy to finally be with
you Ian!!'' Eve screamed.
''I love you so much, Eve!'' She had no idea
how exstatic he was.
He put her down as they kissed. Ian - being
such a nice guy asked her ''Do you want me to put you up in the Port Charles
Inn? Or you can stay at my place...I have an extra bed-...''
Eve then cut him off ''Thornheart, Please!
Just shut up and take me home!''
''Alright Lambert - Shall we?''
