The Start
She was
sitting there by the cherry tree like always. Waiting, she always seemed to be
waiting; for what, she was not sure.
She had been born a natural black haired girl who had eyes of
indigo. She was named KuraYami, a
very strange name for a girl, but the name fit. She left to go to a high
school. It was all too boring for
KuraYami. Calculus, History,
English… who cared? As she walked
on she knew something strange was happening or was going to happen. She reached the school as the smell of
roses filled the air. “Ah, yes,”
she sighed, “In my dream, that silver haired boy smelled like this.” She walked up the tall steps seeing the
occasional giggly school-girl or “talking” couple, she moved on. She entered the school and moved up more
steps. Room C24, my first class, thought
KuraYami. She sat down and looked
at the window. Cherry blossoms and roses… what a
pair! Before she knew it,
homeroom had started. A very
ancient fossil of a woman named Mrs. Oban (for obvious reasons, look up oban in
a Japanese dictionary) slapped a ruler on her desk and demanded silence. “Our new exchange student is here,
idiots,” screeched the hag. “His
name is Shuuichi Minamino, he is from Japan. He will be here for half the school year
and then I will send another student to live at his house for the next
half. I want you to respect him
like anyone else.” She pointed
blankly at the class and looked a Shuuichi, “You may sit wherever you’d
like.” The red-head strolled coolly
down a row and looked right into KuraYami’s indigo eyes. “Would I have the honor of sitting by
you, miss?” Everyone stared hard on
her face and she started blushing, and blushing hard. “Uh… sure. Why not?” She laughed nervously, and
suddenly something struck her. Had
she seen this Shuuichi somewhere before?
He had red hair and a nice figure, but the most appealing thing was his
eyes. They were emerald green, just
like a rose’s leaf. The day went on
and, just like some kind of miracle; the boy was in all of her classes. There’s something about that guy, something
so familiar.
After
school, Kurama went to walk to his new American home. He swung his case over his shoulder and
sighed. The girl, she is familiar…I know I have seen
the girl before. She has a faint
scent of cherry blossoms always around her and it’s not perfume… Kitsune!
Kurama shut his eyes and sighed
again only to be knocked over by a black haired girl not looking where she was
going. “Oh sorry,” she cried and
rubbed her head. Kurama, being the
rough demon he was, really didn’t feel a thing, stood up and held out his
hand. “My I help you up Miss?” Instead of politely taking his hand she
gave him an annoyed look and shouted, “My name is KuraYami and I wouldn’t have
fallen if you hadn’t been in my way,” and she brought herself up. What a temper, this must be...
“Kitsune?” The girl was stunned, “Wha?” Suddenly Kurama sprinkled her with a
sleeping herb and carried her home.
She and
he were running, he, a brilliant jet black wolf and she, a silver-black
vixen. Running, running for such a
long time that their graceful legs just couldn’t carry them. Their canine forms were as fast as they
got, trapped in this spell. It was
just them; Ookami the wolf demon and her, Kitsune the fox demon. They had just witnessed the killing of
the greatest demon thief of all time: Kurama. But, they had gotten caught and must pay
the price with their lives. Kitsune
turned around and attacked with sharp claws and bared fangs. “If Kurama-san is dead than I shall die
with him,” yelled the vixen. With a
simple hit he had fulfilled her wish.
However, she would die slowly and very painfully. Ookami, the wolf demon, who was her
brother, narrowly escaped the hunter-demon and returned to his dying little
sister’s side. “Fool! Baka! You die to join that pitiful
creature of a demon! You know as
well as Kurama and I that you cannot escape this curse that was cast upon
you!” Although her brother’s words
where harsh and sharp, she could tell he cared for her, something she had never
shown him. “Than I will find him
elsewhere,” and she died painfully.
KuraYami
woke up startled. Such dreams as the one she had just
encountered had been haunting her sleep for such a long time. She sat up, stretched, and yawned. Suddenly she noticed a red-haired figure
looking straight at her, and she screamed loudly. Her mother, Samantha, ran in panicked
and yelled, “What? What’s wrong?”
The screaming girl pointed at the semi-startled boy. Sam blinked and laughed. This is Shuuichi; doesn’t he go to your
school?” Still in shock, KuraYami
blinked and said, “Well, yeah, but… what is he doing here?” “He will be staying
her for now. He said you fainted on
the sidewalk, so he brought you home.”
Kura (that’s what I’m going to call her for now) put on that “I can’t
believe you said that” look and stared at Shuuichi who had a surprised look on
his face due to the girl’s reaction when she found out what had
happened.
<Kurama
rather surprised by the girl’s reaction>
“Riiiiiight…you know how hot it is out
there. Boy, it’s a whooping 68* out
there. I never would have survived
without him,” she said sarcastically.
“Well, I’ll just leave you two to yourselves,” and her mother left. Kura was real mad now. “Of all the stupid things to say: ‘Oh
I’m a weak little girl! Can’t take the heat! Oh, help me big strong man!’ Are
you a stupid moron?” At this Shuuichi started laughing. “So now you think I’m funny,” Kura said
and threw a pillow right at the red head’s mouth. He was so busy laughing that he never
even saw the pillow flying and it knocked him right off the bed. The boy didn’t get up. “Um, are you Ok? I didn’t mean to throw it that hard! I
swear!”
She
looked down over the side of her bed, and looked at the chair where he had once
been sitting. He was still laughing
hard, but now a large pillow in his mouth was muffling the sound. Kura growled loudly. “I swear I’m gonna
kill you… you…you bastard!” After
that, Shuuichi stopped laughing, took the pillow out of his mouth, and looked at
her seriously while getting himself up.
<Kurama
turning around, looking rather serious>
Kura
backed away a bit nervous, but ready to fight if she had to. The red-head looked into her eyes, and
Kura stopped moving. He was all the way standing up now. “Um…I,” she couldn’t
finish; she held her hand up in a scared manner towards her mouth. Then there was a slight change in mood.
Her total face turned from scared to angry. Kurama was shocked; he just didn’t get
this girl! Suddenly, Kurama’s vision blurred. He steadied his eyes on KuraYami
and she didn’t falter. She seemed
to be staring at him, but her eyes were not focused. Kurama now saw what was
wrong with his vision. “The shadows,” he said, and yet the girl kept staring,
not even noticing him. He looked again to make sure he was right. Sure enough,
the shadows danced like water. They were like a liquid; there shape never stayed
the same and some nearby ones even blended together. He faltered in walking, but
he succeeded when he touched her lava lamp. It was hot, but solid. “Strange,” he
whispered to himself. Despite the girl’s seemingly harmless and normal
appearance, he censed a powerful ki from her, but couldn’t see it. “Shuuichi! KuraYami! Come eat!” It was
KuraYami’s mother, Samantha. The girl’s gaze broke and she seemed rather
stunned. She looked at Shuuichi sympathetically and turned her head down to
block her eyes with a waterfall of long black hair. Kurama smiled; he wasn’t
sure if she was aware of what just happened or not. He watched her get up and
move to the door. When she was directly beside him she whispered, “Stay away
from me… or I’ll kill you.” And with that she walked down the stairs. This may turn out to be more than a simple
exchange student program. Kurama walked down the wooden stairs while faking
a cheerful attitude and said, “Yes Mrs. Hawk.” “Please, call me Sam, Shuuichi.
Or just plain mom…if you’d like,” was her motherly reply. Kurama smiled, brushed
his hair aside and thought: but maybe it
won’t be so bad.

maybe it won’t be so bad”>
