Why do I like the Japanese versions better than dubs? Plainly, the subtitled are neat. No cutting out or trying to fit it in the 30 minute period. The songs in it are so much cuter and prettier. Like the ending theme in Sailor Moon Super S with Chibi Usa and Pegasus. I believe it's "Baby Baby Love." Anyhow, the plot is better and more diversital.
What do I think of the animation? Well, when I fist saw it, I thought it was the best animation ever! However, as time expanded and I experienced Pretty Sammy, Tenchi, Ranma, You're Under Arrest, Pokemon, Ah My Goddess, Oh My Goddess, and all that good stuff (I could go on and on) I realized the animation wasn't that good. I give it credit, considering it was one of the first anime! However, Kosuke Fujishima's Ah/Oh My Goddess and You're under arrest is much better at the animation. I love SM and I can bear the animation, but it's not as good as some other anime.
Well, as for the characters. I think that they are neat. If I had to pick a least favorite, it would be Darien. He is okay, but he never really speaks and he is not as main. I like Andrew and Melvin better for the guys! ^-^
Dub voices are not very good. The original ones are tons better! Really! Think back to Rini episodes. Who was the annyoing kid? Rini! Why was she annoying? Because of her dub voice. Really, the original voices made Rini soooo much more sweet and angelic. Those dub voices messed up Rini! Really, my opinion. Don't get mad please. Then, the other's dub voices are pretty good.
The attacks are pretty cool, but the ones in the Japanese versions are better. When they are in their super and final transformation.
On a more light note, I feel really happy when I wathc Sailor Moon. I don't know, it makes me wanna be a scout. They are a better role model for children than other anime, and I must say that for all you Moonies who are as obsessed with Sailor Moon as me, to the extent that you go to every anime shop looking for those Sailor Moon sub videos not available on-line, and I've gotta tell you, I have never regretted it. I love my anime collection, and I hope that even though Naoko Takeuchi no longer makes Sailor Moon, that it will stay on t.v. for a long time coming!
