Steamboat Days - Burlington, IA

July 17, 1998

In the summer of 1998 Bootsie attended a Teen Idols Show in Burlington, Iowa.
Bootsie joined members of the Purple Flower Gang (a Monkees Fan Club)for a day of friendship, fun and music*.
This picture can be found in Davy's new release of his autobiography titled Daydream Believing.

We made a six hour trek to Burlington with our dear friend Sunny. This was our first trip with Sunny.

Bobby Sherman opened the show to quite a response (partly due to the leather pants he was wearing) from the audience. His first time touring in 30 years, it seemed as though he had been preforming all along.

By the time David appeared on stage, the audience was going wild. The guys in the band introduced him by shaking tambourines in the air.
David's preformance was nothing short of magnificent. He joked around, and sang some of his newer songs.

Peter Noone's set rounded out the evening as he got the audience to sing along with him.
As a final treat, David and Peter closed the show with a duet of "There's a Kind of Hush."

The ride home was eventful, to say the least. We drove right into the path of a tornado that was on its way through DesMoines in our direction. I would have liked to chase it down, but Bootsie and Sunny insisted that I pull over into the nearest (crowded) rest stop. Lucky us, this rest stop was all electric (toilets, sinks, etc.) and the power was out. We hopped out of my car, remembering of course to rescue our cameras and all of our concert-related items from the trunk.Needless to say we made it home alive (even though my car was nearly hit by lightening) and were able to tell our tale to the masses.
