A pair of boots
standing tall
undaunted by
the tennis shoes
and loafers lying
around carelessly
Majestic and strong
these boots tower
above the others
Remaining true to their
form, keeping
straight and clean
Unwilling to stoop
and wallow
in careless laxity
to lose their shape
and grace
Pronouncing judgment
by their own action
condemning the shoes
of lesser character
to greater wear.
