What is meditation?
Many Christians throw up a red flag when they see the word, meditation. It conjures up images of Transcendentalists and Pagan worshippers contemplating their navel. But, God desires that we meditate. Only He is explicit about upon what we are to meditate. He doesn't want us to meditate upon the trees, or upon a crystal, or upon our inner soul. God wants us to meditate on what He has said, His Word, the Bible. Meditation upon the Bible involves spending time reading it, studying it, and memorizing it. No, you don't have to memorize the whole Bible, but at least memorize the verses that are helpful to you. They come to mind very handily when life's troubles get to you and you need the encouragement of God's Word to you. So, don't grab your Bible and head for the nearest mountain or monastery, just open it up on a regular basis and spend some time reading what God has to say to you.
How often do you spend reading and studying the Bible? Daily? Weekly?
