It was a 2 1/2 hour hike to Tooth of Time Ridge to the Tooth of Time. Along Tooth Ridge we had the most fantastic view of Grizzly Tooth. We all took pictures. We dropped our packs and climbed the Tooth of Time. There was no trail so it was like rock climbing. It was a fantastic view of all of Philmont. We leaned over and saw the drop. It was amazing. Here we ate some dried pineapple, feed the mini-bears, and did our final Thorns and Roses.
It was another 3 hours down to Camping Headquarter's. This day was supposed to be a 10 mile day. Thank goodness it wasnt, because our legs were so tired from the downhill pounding we got on this trail. It was on the side of a mountain. We would go past camping headquarters, and then we would be on the other side of the mountian. It was absolutly crazy. We could have gone straight down.
We didn't eat lunch. We just had a beefstick.
We did the checkout procedure: mail, equipment, locker, returned gear, etc. Eyeryone Showered. Hot water thank God.
Dinner was at five. Cold Spaghetti, but it was real food we were thankful.
Me and John traded patches with many crews. He traded a regular Simon Kenton Council Patch for a Cape Fear Philmont 1998 patch. I was so mad.
I bought some souviners. A 60th Anniversary pin, a belt and some patches. They were out of 60th anniversary patches. If anybody who is reading this has one I will buy it. E-mail me at plaid_flying_monkeys@yahoo.com if you have one.
We attended chapel at 7:00 and Campfire at 8:15. It was very amusing and entertaining. Here we recieved our Arrowhead Patches.
We went to bed at 10:15. It was difficult to sleep due to noise in camp. A skunk had been killed by another crew in our trek. It was under their bed boards. They picked it up and couldn't hold on to it and were scared they dropped it on 2 babies causing all of their things to smell. It was really bad.
Finally went to bed at 2:00
