MY TRIBUTE TO ROY ROGERS
AND DALE EVANS AND TRIGGER

This is my tribute to my childhood heros. It took untill I was 27 for my dream to come true. I finally met the legendary Roy Rogers and Dale Evans & Dusty (Roy Jr.) at the AkSarBen rodeo here in Omaha in 1977 and also 1979. I guess you could say I made a nuisance of myself. But I did get some pictures and had them autograph a book she had written.
I was able to talk with Roy as he was waiting to enter the coliseum. We talked about bowling. He was a very avid bowler and carried and average usually of 197 which was alot better than my 124.
I managed to see them before and after each performance even if it met standing in the rain.
Then when they came back in 1979 I was there again to greet them and had them sign the same book. More pictures but this time I had to promise them no more pics so only managed to get a couple.
But I do remember the 1st evening Dale stuck her head out the stage door and went back in, then Roy stuck his out and then I could hear in unison "she's back".
But I was happy for once. My dream had come true. I met my "heros".

Lyrics to "Happy Trails"
by Dale Evans

Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again.
Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It's the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you.
Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again.

Alternate Religious Verse:

Happy trails to you, it's great to say "hello". And to share with you the trail we've come to know.
It started on the day that we met Jesus,
He came into our hearts and then he freed us.
For a life that's true, a happy trail to you.

Roy And Dale

They chased and caught the bad guys
Rounded 'em up and brought 'em in
Roy on Trigger, and Dale on Buttermilk
The good guys would always win.

Happy and smiling as they rode
They sang a western song
Kicking up dust and memories
That will last for oh...so long.

I know they're in cowboy heaven
On gold paved trails they ride
Singing "Happy Trails To You"
Forever...side by side.
