December 3rd:
An EXPLANATION
of an
English SHOOT

The shoot is incredibly well-organized.

It consists of Hunters who manage dogs and “beat” the brush … and
Hunters with guns, who hang out in the fields on either side of the brush,
ready to shoot what the beaters and dogs shoo up out of the “Game Cover.”

All the fields are divided by wide sections of “Game Cover” …
Areas where pheasants, partridge, grouse and other birds are FED and given
space to live … until the day they shoot them, anyway!

Those BLUE things are the bird feeders.

This is one of the first birds of the day.

It was FLYING TOO LOW to be a “sporting challenge” … so, no one shot at it!

Several of the “Guns” in the fields also have dogs with them.
These dogs are all trained as “retrievers.”
