(The “bird” in
this particular pic
is one of the many
HELICOPTERS
that flew over
during the day!
LOL)
Almost all of the sites hunted were reached by driving to them.
However, there was a lot of hiking involved in reaching the position Ronnie assigned you.
Steve brought me to the shoot. But, I tagged along with MARK all day.
Why? Partly because we’d just met and I was getting to know him better …
And, partly because Mark’s silver flask (which Steve is holding)
was filled with home-made SLOE GIN!
OH! This is Victor Tuttiett!
What a dear, dear man!
Likely in his 80’s, Vic
doesn’t “hunt” anymore.
But, he still enjoys being included
in the shoot, and rides around
with Mark all day.
ALSO, he’s in charge of
tying up the birds so that
they can be hung from the rack
on the back of Mark’s vehicle.
Once the game cover between the first fields was flushed,
everyone hopped back in their vehicles and drove to the next site.
Well. Everyone but a few of the beaters.
Steve shot his first bird while in this field.
A VERY SMART BIRD!
When “flushed” from the brush, this pheasant simply flew up into a tree and
STAYED THERE. No amount of yelling or tree-whacking could make it budge!
By The Way: The “bitter cold” frost had melted away long before the shoot began.
It was incredibly MUDDY because of the melted frost, but WHO CARES?!
