CHAS & SUSAN’S
EXCELLENT
UK ADVENTURE

Day Six …

The Gathering
Continues

Another thing about the Braemar Royal Highland Gathering that differed from the USA Highland Gatherings (of my experience): They had several “Track and Field” events that the USA does NOT normally include in “Highland Gatherings!”

STUFF LIKE:

The High Jump …
The Long Jump …
The HOP, SKIP, & JUMP!!!

And, STUFF LIKE the RACES!

They had Foot Races of ALL different distances! Including one MOUNTAIN run MARATHON, where competitors ran around the field once, and then headed up to the VERY TOP of the MOUNTAIN west of the Field, coming back down (maybe an hour or so later!) to run one last time around the field!

A FUN (very short)
MINI-VID of a RACE!

USA Games
DO include
the HAMMER TOSS
and (sometimes)
the SHOT PUT.

Definitely! USA Games
include the CABER Competition!

Here’s a GREAT CABER TOSS
MINI VID!

You can hear the stands going, “ooooOOOOOOOOO!!!
as the toss progresses. And, their CHEERS as a good throw is achieved!
Just as
in the USA,
the CABER event
is
VERY
popular!

Something the USA
may or may not have
(I’ve never seen it …
but, that might be because
I wasn’t paying attention to it!):
The TUG o’ WAR!!!
The TUG of WAR
Competition is
almost as popular
as the CABER!
And QUITE
the BATTLE!!!
Here’s a A MINI-VID of the TUG O’ WAR Finals
Unfortunately, my Mini-Cam doesn’t ZOOM in … So, it ain’t the best Video!

LASTLY! In the USA, I’ve never seen Highland
SACK RACES!

They were TOOOOO FUN!
(all ages of kidz
participating in
several races!)

GREAT
MINI-VID
HERE!

(This pic from the program … but, too cute to pass up!)
