The evening of DAY ONE, I had scheduled a “meeting” of my Internet Bridge partner of 2 years, for a “PUB CRAWL” through the picturesque area of London that is “Hampstead Heath.” When I originally “met” her online, her name was, “Leather Knickers.” Since then, she has changed names multiple times (she’s sort of an “Amelda Marcos” of Bridge Names!), and is currently known as “Lustful Wench.” Thus, I generally refer to her as “Lustful Leather Wench Knickers” … or “Lustful Leather” for short!
Her “real” name is, “Carol!”
ANYWAY! Back in the summer of 1973, between my Junior and Senior years of high school – when I was all of 16 years old – I attended Westfield College (very near the area of Hampstead Heath) for the first 3 weeks of a 6-week study tour of England and Europe. One night, the guy I “dated” soon after arriving in London (a Westfield College student who worked summers as a grounds keeper, Geordie Smith) took me on a pub crawl through Hampstead Heath – visiting all these marvelous little “neighborhood” pubs (bars).
When planning THIS TRIP, I wanted to repeat that wonderful Pub Crawl experience. Imagine my surpriZe when I discovered that, more than 20 years later, the Hampstead Heath Pub Crawl had its own WEB SITE!!! This was incredibly LUCKY … Especially since I had NO idea what pubs to visit (apart from the “Hollybush” – the only Pub Name I could remember from 1073) , or WHERE to find the pubs!
Furthermore, imagine my surpriZe when I learned that another Internet Bridge friend – “CloseWings,” from the NETHERLANDS – had decided to fly to Liverpool, meet with Lustful Leather, and join her (and her husband) to meet US in London!

 We arrived at the Hollybush earlier than the appointed time, had some dinner, and waited for Lustful Leather & entourage to arrive. |
