CHAS’ & SUSAN’S |
This is an “interior” external wall (enclosed-courtyard-facing). Amazing details! |
At last, we get to go
Between 1575 and 1635 several additions were added, including the square and round towers. Early 19th century additions were also made. |
When touring these castles, you’re not allowed to take photos INSIDE. They have security systems that are “extremely sensitive to light … the flash will set them off.” (I suppose it’s a fire-detection kind of gig. I don’t know.)
However, The National Trust for Scotland has published inexpensive booklets for each public castle.
In addition to providing castle history, they’re filled with color pix of interior rooms.
And (oh, surpriZe), I scanned some of them for our trip web site!

in the distance are those I visited earlier (when looking for information) and currently house a Scotland Trust office.
They are HUGE! Since the office doesn’t appear to need more room, I suspect that they will eventually have tours of the stables, as well. |
One last view … and a pretty pic o’ Susan … and, that’s the END of our Castle Fraser visit. |
