Axel Rose adopted me when he was approximately two years old. He had been living on the streets of Denver for who-knows-how-long – surviving by sheer will and tenacity. When he found me, he simply refused to leave. So, I had no choice but to fall madly in love with him!
Although I absolutely love and adore ALL my Kidz equally, Axel was – by far and above – the most cuddly and loving Kat (to humans & other Katz) that I have EVER known. He tolerated children and adults picking him up and holding him, with nary a hiss or grumble – in fact, he seemed to thoroughly enjoy the attention!
Axel Rose disappeared from our Lincoln home on July 29, 1999.
His whereabouts remain unknown.
I miss him more than words can say.
(Even when she was 3 years old, Axel still bathed his kitten – and she still demanded that he do so!) |

When several months had passed and Axel hadn’t reappeared, I tried – TWICE – to introduce a new kitten to the remaining girlz. Not only were the girlz entirely “disinterested” in accepting a new arrival, they ATTACKED each kitten — viciously! So, I gave up after taking the second kitten back to its previous home.
But, one day, while driving to visit my best friend, Susan (she lives on a country farm … way off on a dirt road … reached only by a small highway that leads East from Lincoln), a kitten ran across the dirt road right in front of my car!
It was Princess Anaksunimun!
