THE
AWARD
PRESENTATION

Happily,
Dr. Cornell Runestad
is still alive!

And, he was present at
this NCDA Banquet.

So! Ray’s
“Cornell Runestad Award”
presentation was
initially performed
by Cornell Runestad!
[I have NO IDEA why Fred is making that face!
Maybe it’s in response to one of the funny comments Cornell made about Ray!]

Dr. Runestad’s
brief
presentation
speech
was rife
with
funny
comments
about
HIS MEMORIES
of Ray!

And then, Cornell personally presented Ray with the 2006 Award Platter.

Ray received a STANDING OVATION as Cornell gave him the Award Platter.
After Cornell’s presentation
and the Standing-O,
Ray started for the microphone,
but was cued to
“SIT BACK DOWN”
by the current NCDA President,
Fred Ritter,

who had an
INFORMATIONAL
SPEECH
to perform!

Fred summarized Ray’s professional achievements, and identified the
manner in which Ray had amply “qualified” to receive the award.

At the end of Fred’s speech, Ray received ANOTHER STANDING OVATION

[Can we say “VERKLEMPT”? I THINK WE CAN!]


Then, RAY was given the podium!
I tend to cringe when
Ray is given a microphone.
Because, the older he gets,
the LONGER he often goes on!

However, Ray’s acceptance speech
was SHORT (relatively),
SWEET,
and full of
VERY funny
observances!

[The audience laughed out
LOUDLY several times!]


[To be perfectly HONEST: Ray’s last use of a mic – at the 50th gig –
was ALSO Short … Sweet … and without excessive rambling!
So. I’m thinking he’s “grown out of” the rambling stage, and
I should STOP CRINGING! LOL]

After Ray had returned to his seat, and all the awards were done,

Cornell came by to “privately” personally congratulate Ray.
Of course, Carol’s HEAD was in the way from where I was sitting!


Thankfully, VERNON grabbed my camera and managed to get THIS PIC
before Cornell moved off to go direct his choir!
