Day 3, July 4th
More MORRONE Pix

Because of its height (2900 feet), a radio antenna (to boost the signal of the Mountain Rescue radios) was mounted on top of Morrone.

Also, a WARMING HUT was built there, for use during mountain rescue efforts in the area.

The original HUT was just a tiny thing – the rough-stoned little structure seen in this pic
and the pic below.

The little antenna at the end of the rough-stoned Hut is the original “booster.”

The current “Warming Hut” is a much larger structure, built adjacent to the original one.
And, the very tall modern-day radio tower is immediately next to it.

Apart from Lindsay
(at the far right of this pic)
& myself,
I have no memory of
WHO these folkz are!

Yo! Lindsay!
Email me their names, plz.

Lindsay Smith is a member of the Braemar Mountain Rescue Team, and the Treasurer for the Braemar Royal Highland Society.

I met him via the Internet when planning the September 2002 trip.

HE was the one that got us the invitation to the PRIVATE, post Highland Games “Hospitality Tent!”

He was soooo busy during that trip, though, that I never got to spend any time with him.

Thankfully,
THIS TRIP was different!

Besides Lindsay being part of this Landrover Safari gig,
I also got to visit with him on Sunday (Day 5)!
So, MORE of Lindsay coming soon.

Just a couple pix of ME
(and my CIG! Jeeze)
at the Morrone Birkwood
Marker, on the top of
Morrone mountain.
