Day 4, July 5th
Braemar
Kirkyard

I probably spent an entire hour
wandering about these incredibly
old and weathered graves.

Even though my camera isn’t nearly
good enough to capture the nature
of the experience, there really isn’t much
“narration” needed for these pix.

So, I’ll just post them.

It was a GRAND & moving experience,
to spend time in such a haunting
and historic place.

(Put your MOUSE on the pic!)

(Put your MOUSE on the pic!)

It was rather frustrating that the YEAR
often was not part of a stone’s inscription!

For instance, the stone at left.

Clearly, Margaret had this stone erected
when her sister, Catherine McIntosh, died.
But, it’s unclear whether the other
family members listed are “buried” here,
or “memorialized” with this stone.

(James must have died well before
Catherine or Margaret.)

Since Margaret died in 1903, at the age of 82,
we know that all the others listed on the stone
predeceased her!

Obviously, the oldest stones in this Kirkyard,
are those that can no longer be read.

And, somehow, I found it very sad
that I couldn’t read those stones.

(Verklempt City!)

Actually, there are a few more pix from the Braemar Kirkyard. But, they’re only of interest to folkz who enjoy discovering unique things of history. SO! I’ll spare those of you who are eager to go on to the Braemar Castle pix!

HOWEVER! If you ARE the type o’ person who wants to see pix o’ the crypt and other interesting gravestones (such as JAMES FRASER’s gravestone!), CLICK HERE and go to them.
You can get to the Castle (and other pix) from the end of that page.

NEXT DAY FOUR PAGE OPTIONS (in order of trip occurrence):
