Day 10, July 11th
Dunkeswell
Aerodrome

(aka: "Mudville Heights")

HISTORY

I obtained most (of not ALL)
of the pix on this page from the
USN-DUNKESWELL website.
To read the historical INFORMATION
that accompanies these pix,
go to that website!
“This site is dedicated to the airmen of
the US Navy and US Army Air Force
who operated from Dunkeswell Airfield
during World War II, protecting the
convoys and keeping open the vital
sea lanes from America to Britain”

I also snagged a few PIX from an
odd little “Control Tower” website:
UK airfield listing 1942-45

For Band Of Brothers fans,
BOTH the above LINKS lead you to a Dunkeswell page that ALSO has
at least one link to some UPOTTERY Airfield info and pix.

Here’s some KOOL old pix taken at Dunkeswell!

“The Aero Club building, now Dunkeswell Air Centre, at the airfield entrance has a public
area from which to view the flying, parachuting and sky-diving which take place.
It offers refreshments and also a theme park for children. It has a large car park and
is open daily with the exception of Christmas and New Year.”

A couple fun WWII Logos!

A pic o’ the “Modern Airfield!”
