All was going fine (with Placebo anyway), until their drunken exploits began...
20:36 PM Labeled "either an open-minded individual or a complete fool", Amen man Casey Chaos strolls to the stage to present the Spirit Of Independence award. Holding his glass of Jack Daniel's aloft, the Satanic Furby sarcastically calls for a toast to Nickleback and Staind then throws his glass to the floor and murmurs "Rock 'n' Roll". Er, yeah, thanks Casey.
20:37 PM While nominations for the award are played on the screens flanking the stage a couple of glasses are hurled at Casey Chaos from the Placebo table stage left. Brian Molko tells Chaos not to be "a bitch". Only the intervention of a burly security guard prevents Chaos delivering a witty retort with his fists.
20:38 PM "The guy from Placebo wants to beat me up," spits Chaos into the microphone. The word bothered goes unsaid.
all was calm again (Placebo-wise anyway) until minutes after the awards show ended...
21:03 PM [Raging] Speedhorn guitarist Tony Loughlin walks over looking slightly concerned. "Whatever happens now is nothing to do with me," he mutters. The statement is still sinking in when there's a loud crash and an explosion of broken glass. That'll be Speedhorn's table hitting the floor, then.
21:04 PM Angry security staff surround the Speedhorn party, threatening to evict them from the building. Rather remarkably, the finger of blame for the destruction is pointed at Placebo's Brian Molko. Even more remarkably, this turns out to be true.
then it was off to the after-party...
exact time unknown Visibly upset by Brian Molko's tabletipping antics earlier in the evening - possibly because they hadn't thought of it first - the members of Raging Speedhorn spent much of the party hunting down the dwarf-like Placebo singer. "If I see him, I'm going to kick his fucking knackers off," fumed vocalist Frank Regan between bottles of Absinthe...

The pint-sized Placebo man was the prime instigator in the destruction of Raging Speedhorn's table, and generally made a cock out of himself. He sagely observed: "I came out of the toilets high on drugs and Absinthe. Speedhorn seemed to be trying to be rock 'n' roll, throwing glasses around. I thought, let's do this properly, and tipped their table over." Presumably by standing on tiptoe and head-butting it.
