Do-It-Yourself Placebo projects!
i make a lot of my own Placebo merchandise (like badges, lighters, magnets, tins, pens, magnets, pillows, light switch covers, shirts, lippys, bookmarks, a bar stool, key chains and more) because i can't seem to buy much anywhere, so i thought i'd post directions so you can make your own Placebo stuff too...
How to make your own Placebo Magazine Holder...
supplies:
- a big, tall cardboard box (like one from a 24-pack of soda or a big cereal box)
- acrylic paint or paper to cover the box
- glue
- scissors
- a variety of Placebo pictures
- clear packing tape
- letter stickers, markers, or bad magazines you can cut up
- glitter, feathers, stickers, ribbons, or other decorations*
*if desired
|
directions:
- Cut off the top of your box. Cut the front straight across and the sides at an angle.
- If the sides of your magazine holder seem weak, you can glue wooden popsicle sticks or even the cut-off pieces of cardboard to reinforce the weak places.
- Paint your box. If the box has dark colored print on it you might to the give a few coats of paint. In a pinch if you dan't have paint, you could glue paper to the outside of the box.
- Once the box is done drying you can glue the pictures to the outside of the box.
- To make your magazine box more durable and water-resistant you can cover it completely with heavy-duty clear packing tape.
- Use letter stickers, letters cut from old crap magazines, or markers to add whatever words you like. Then decorate the outside with whatever else you desire.

a few notes i found helpful:
- If you're using a cereal-type box, remember that one of the narrow panels will serve as the front of your magazine holder.
- While the paint or glue is drying, decide how you'd like your Placebo pictures to be arranged.
my test example: i used a 24-pack box. since the print on it was dark red & black, i covered all sides of the box with a base coat of white paint and then a couple coats of pink and purple paint. i chose to glue two color, computer-printed, Placebo pictures on each side. on the short front end i used letters i'd cut from old crappy magazines to spell out "dee's placebo magazines" (ranson note-style) and on the back i used bigger magazine letters to spell out the lyric "SHE'S GOT MAGAZINES...".
