Do-It-Yourself Placebo magnets!

How to make 3 kinds of your own Placebo magnets...
supplies for a simple Placebo magnet:
  • a thin, flat magnet
  • glue (school glue will do)
  • a picture of Placebo
  • scissors
  • clear tape
*if desired
directions for a simple, flat magnet:
  1. Cut your picture of Placebo just slightly smaller than your flat, thin magnet (often given away as free promo items).
  2. Spread a very thin layer of glue over the magnet's printed side and firmly place your picture onto it.
  3. After the glue has completely dried put a piece of clear packing tape over it to protect your new Placebo magnet.

supplies for a clippy Placebo magnet:
  • wooden clothes pin (pinchy kind)
  • acrylic paint*
  • glue (school glue will do)
  • scissors
  • a picture of Placebo
  • clear varnish or tape
  • cardboard or flat wooden shapes
  • a piece of magnet or magnetic tape
*if desired
directions for a clippy magnet:
  1. Cut out a simple shape from your piece of cardboard (skip this step if you have a pre-cut wooden shape).
  2. If you'd like you can paint the shape and/or the clothes pin (but don't paint the clothes pin so it dries closed and can't be clipped!) and then let it dry.
  3. Cut your picture of Placebo in the same shape and glue it to the cardboard or wooden shape so you have a stiff-backed picture to mount on your clothes pin.
  4. Once it has dried, glue it to the flat side of your clothes pin.
  5. Paint a layer of clear varnish of the picture to protect it (or just use clear tape).
  6. Trim an old magnet to fit the back of the clothes pin (or use magnetic tape) and glue it on.

supplies for letter magnets:
  • old magnets or magnetic tape
  • felt or foam letters
  • scissors
  • glue (super glue would be best)
  • glittery paint*
*if desired
directions for letter magnets:
  1. Choose some felt or foam letters that spell something relating to Placebo (like the band members names or your favorite song or a line of lyrics).
  2. If you'd like to glam up your letters, use glittery paint and paint the fronts of the letters.
  3. Once the paint has dried, flip the letters over and glue bits of magnet to the backs of each letter.
a few notes i'd have found helpful: Photocopied and/or computer printed pics work best because they can more easily be replaced.
