The Texas Miller Foray To The
Texas Renaissance Festival, 2000!
Page Two (of FIVE)
This Foray marks the VERY FIRST TIME
(in 15 to 20 years of Faire-Going!)
that I’ve ever been DELUGED WITH RAIN
while attending a Renaissance Festival!!!
When the rain began, we did all that we could to keep dry: darting under cover, taking refuge in various large store fronts, pretending we were interested in BUYING something. Quickly, however, it became readily apparent that the Texas Rain would WIN – that we would be SOAKED – no matter what we did! Upon finally acknowledging this fact, we simply stopped fussing around and GOT WET.
It was only THEN that we realized how much FUN it was to GET WET
and SLOG THROUGH THE MUD!!!
One of the places we initially
took refuge in (as you can see,
we’re still DRY in this pic!)
happened to be a truly cool
shop selling necklaces, bracelets,
and ankle-bracelets. I have no
memory of this guy’s name,
but he was really, really fun. |
|
This guy was really a sweet person – and he gave us a “WENCH DISCOUNT” on his stuff! As it happened, my WENCH MEMBERSHIP yielded a “WENCH DISCOUNT” for us at a number of booths. Erik’s buddy even got a “WENCH DISCOUNT” on the walking staff he bought!
|
Although Jodi and the Taylors
don’t appear to be having too much
“fun” in this pic (they sort of look
like “drowned ratz” don’t they?!),
we really did have fun
slogging through the mud! |
The MOST FUN we had was after the rain, when we had to slosh our way across a river
of knee-high flood water, to get to “Sherwood Forrest” (where the Kid Games and Rides were)!
Taylor’s friend, Katherine, didn’t want to slosh through,
so I CARRIED her across the river by “PIGGY-BACK.”
Upon putting her safely down on the other side,
some silly HIMBO asked me to give HIM a ride across. To which I replied,
“Ten Pounds, Sirrah!
I may be EASY, but I ain’t CHEAP!”
He decided NOT to spend the money!
(YES! I would have carried his sissy butt across for Ten Bucks!)
KIDZ LIKE TO THROW ROTTEN VEGETABLES!!!
But not nearly as much as they like to throw sharp objects.
KIDZ LOVE TO THROW SHARP OBJECTS!!!
Upon arriving in Sherwood Forrest, one of the first “games” was
throwing a choice of sharp objects at a wooden target:
Knives, Axes, or Ninja Killing Stars. Our Kidz unanimously
selected the Ninja Killing Stars (oh, surpriZe).
They all demonstrated rather scary accuracy!!!
THERE’S MORE!!! THERE’S MORE!!!
