EVERYTHING that went on with me in 2003. (I know. Awd – but twoo!)

OTAY!!! Before I get into the MONTH-by-MONTH FUN stuff, letz get the “MUNDANE” chit out of the way.

TEACHING:

Throughout 2003 I continued providing Nebraska-State-EMS-Grant-Funded Continuing Education sessions for local Volunteer Agencies – sometimes doing several sessions in each place.
[Behlen (Columbus), York, Schuyler, Unadilla, Syracuse, Ashland, Bellevue, Weeping Water, Fairbury EMS Conference, EMS Dispatchers Conference (Nebraska City), Panama/Firth, & Linwood.]

PLUS, in 2003 I began teaching for TWO “community-based, private not-for-profit [agencies] serving people with DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES, MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS, and YOUTH who have experienced a disruption in their home lives.”:
Developmental Services of Nebraska, and
Active Community Treatment.
They both use the TACT-2 restraint methods. But NOW, they use them BETTER!!!
I’m very, VERY proud of these two companies, for the care and attention they’ve demonstrated by ensuring that ALL their previously-hired employees received restraint asphyxia training as soon as I was contracted; and for ensuring (on an on-going basis)
that ALL NEW HIRES are trained about restraint asphyxia.
I teach 2 or MORE “Restraint Asphyxia – Silent Killer” classes
PER MONTH for each of these two companies!

Well. I’ve apparently become so good at writing an Expert Report that clearly identifies how forceful-prone-restraint can kill people, that I don’t even have to do “depositions” anymore!

Very soon after receiving my Expert Report, almost ALL the new cases I worked this year were “settled” out of court by the law enforcement, EMS, and/or Fire departments responsible for killing someone via employment of forceful-prone-restraint.
Those cases that weren’t “settled” are still in the process of “discovery.”

The Patient Restraint and Restraint Asphyxia Newz Directory on my Website
has provided info for TONS o’ folkz … and my Restraint Asphyxia Library
is being accessed more and more often by more and more people.

Hopefully … some day! … Emergency Responders will become educated enough to
STOP killing people with inappropriate restraint application.
And, I’ll be able to get OUT of this business!!!

I was not asked to teach at the JEMS EMS Today conference in Philly, March 19-24.
(Oh, surpriZe – LOL!!! The Journal of Emergency Medical Services continues to be on my
“hit list” for promoting lethal forms of restraint!)

My KATZ share a common birthday: April 4th!

LUPER (aka “Guadalupe”) turned 16 this year!!!

JELLY (aka “Jellylorum”) turned 14 this year.

SYLVIE is now 10 years old.

JEAN PIERRE (Rampal) is now 3 years old (and STILL has a NASTY TEMPER!!!

AND, I FINALLY attended the “Scarborough Faire!” ‘Twas NOT as Fantabulous as the fall “Texas Renaissance Faire!” And, although it ‘Twas a gude tyme, I’ll likely NOT go again. “HOT” is not that unusual or unbearable … but, the HUMIDITY was WAY too awful!

JUNE, 2003

Not a darn thing of “interest” happened in JUNE. Well … except for my JULY Teaching Tour of ENGLAND getting CANCELLED AT THE LAST MINUTE!!! I had been contracted to teach Restraint Asphyxia – Silent Killer for various care facilities in several cities round and about England. But, the gentleman who organized the “tour” developed some health problems a few weeks before the trip date, and had to postpone the tour! However, his company had already bought my non-refundable flight ticket for July 1 though July 13. Soooo I ended up with a FREE TICKET to a UK VACATION in JULY!
