2012 Fox Den Net Birdie Wednesday
Golf League
Contact:
General Details:
- First tee time is 5:15 and play goes for 20
weeks – from 4/18 to 9/5-9/19 depending on rain-outs
- $100 League Dues per man covers all payouts
for the year (cash or check)
- Weekly standings will be posted on the Fox Den
bulletin board each week and hosted online
- Completed Scorecards go to Jay or on the
counter in the clubhouse or in the scorecard box
- I MUST GET THESE SCORECARDS (the official
ones please)
- To collect your payouts from the previous
week, look for the payout box
- Self-service as it can be hard to track
everyone down
- Point System
- 42 point scoring system:
- 2 points per hole (ties get 1 point each)
- 2 points individual Net
- 2 points Team Net
- Handicap based match play (lower handicap
players play each other)
- Cumulative points determines standings (not
record)
- Absences
- Please contact me if you will not be there
for a week
- We have several guys that really want to
sub, so please let me know!
- It makes everything much easier –
scorecards, coordination, etc
- You may get your own sub or we can get one
for you. Either way, let me know.
- If the sub’s name is not on the scorecard,
cross out and write the sub’s first
and last name (I need it to save in the database or load from the
database for handicapping).
- If no sub is obtained, the other player plays
against both members of the other team.
- If both team members are absent and there is
no sub, a random draw is done to determine who plays for them. However, the maximum the totally absent
team can win is 17 points.
- Bye Weeks
- We have 17 teams so each team gets a bye
throughout the year and during Round Robin weeks, the 17th
place team has to sit.
- During your bye week if room exists, you may
play and have your points determined by your score vs
a random draw. Because of byes, we
will use Average Weekly points instead of Total points to determine
places.
Payouts (projected):
- Weekly Low Net (individual) $10 per side
- Weekly Closest to the Pin (all par 3s) $7 each
- Weekly Skins (A and B flights, $15 per pool)
- A and B flights are determined by your
overall position within the league (for example if one team has 2 guys in
the top 16, both are in the A flight)
- A and B flights are broken down by current
handicap (exact) with ties broken by overall average score, then by
handicapped holes if needed
- First and Second Half top 5
places (1st – 5th: $200, $120, $80, $60, $40 per
team)
- Prizes not won go back into the pot and will
be added to the prize pool for the outing
- Subs are not eligible for any payouts
- Your total payout from the previous week can
be found online on the “Standings & Payouts” page (http://netbirdie.angelfire.com/overall.png)
- The Outing pool starts at $280 and will grow
throughout the year (missed pin shots, etc)
Handicaps:
- Designed to be similar to the USGA system
- Triple bogey highest used for handicap (i.e. shoot 48 with a 9 on a par 5, 47 used for
handicap)
Differentials:
Like the USGA, we are using
differentials, which are designed to reflect potential and take into account
course difficulty. We are calculating
them similarly, but with slight changes due to fewer rounds and playing only 9
holes. If you are curious how the USGA
computes handicaps, check out usga.org (takes lowest 10 of last 20
differentials). A differential is
calculated from your score using the course rating and the slope. How we will calculate a differential:
R
= Course Rating… front 9 is 34.5, back 9 is 34.8.
S
= Slope… front 9 is 121, back 9 is 123
A
= Adjusted score… adjusting your score for any holes higher than a triple bogey
Differential = (A – R) * 113 / S * 0.9
Computing
a handicap:
Take the average of the
differentials to be used and round down.
Differentials
to be used:
New
guys:
·
First week’s differential
sets your first and second week handicap
·
After 2 rounds:
lowest of your 2 differentials
Veterans:
·
First week
handicap based on the lowest 60% of last year’s differentials
·
After 1 round:
75% last year with 25% round 1 differential from current season
·
After 2
rounds: 50% last year with 50% lowest 1 differential from current season
Everyone
after 3 rounds:
·
After 3
rounds: the lowest 2 of the last 3 differentials
·
After 4
rounds: the lowest 2 of the last 4 differentials
·
After 5 or
more rounds: the lowest 3 of the last 5 differentials
League-specific Rules:
- You can roll the ball in your own
fairway.
- Play it as it lies in the rough.
- Lift, clean, and place can be used if balls
are plugging
- Really short putts can be conceded (keep them
short)
- 10 stroke limit on a hole
- Line of flight may be used on out of bounds shots
(except from the tee)
- Line of flight may also be used for lost balls
(agreement from competitors)
- Don’t pick up balls you find as we like to
hit them in the wrong fairway ;-)
- If there are questions on how to proceed in a
certain situation, play 2 balls from the spot and consult the rules
committee after the round.
Yet TBD:
- Outing TBD – expect Mayfair
in late August or early September on a Saturday or Sunday
