DNA is the next step in your research. The Family Tree 12/25 Marker test is easy to take (swab the inside of your cheek) and is good for genealogy purposes only. It will tell who your cousins and ancestors are within 14 generations. Please join this study by clicking on the link above or write to me: nfarmilo@comcast.net

I forgot another site I found as well. This one was at the Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville, Mifflin County, PA. It was just a normal headstone that said the following:
BURNS -
EARL GILBERT (1923 - 1974) and ALMA GRACE (1915 - 2003)
My BURNS is of the GEORGE WASHINGTON BURNS line from Mifflin County, PA. If my research is correct, GEORGE WASHINGTON BURNS was the son of JACOB BURNS, also of Mifflin County, but much after that, I'm lost. JACOB BURNS was born about 1800 in PA, but no clue as to his lineage.
Thanks again,
TERRI

Hi NORMA,
I could really use your help! My father JAMES KENNETH CAREY (ALEXANDER BURNS), b.11-05-1915, Pittston, PA. His Certificate of Baptism reads, Church of, St. John The Evangelist, Child of ALEXANDER BURNS and MARY CAREY. He was brought up to believe MARY was his sister, until later in his life. He never looked for his father. MARY'S sister LORRETTA CAREY married a RAYMOND BURNS also from Pittston PA. Any help or info. would greatly be appreciated.

I have nothing on DIXON BURNS, but am looking for a JAMES BURNS whose daughter CATHERINE BURNS (JAMES) was born in 1802. She is supposed to have had two brothers, and the father is supposed to have lived in Lebanon Co. PA. CATHERINE BURNS (JAMES) was married in 1822 in Schuylkill Co. PA to SAMUEL STEIN.
Bedford Co. PA has a large BURNS history going back to JAMES BURNS who was a very young soldier at Bunker hill, (Bedford PA men were supposedly the first
outsiders to arrive - by foot of course). We have a book on the family and there is a large family reunion every year.
I have a list of JAMES BURNS in Pennsylvania for my time period, but none fit the one I'm looking for.

Current events about that three year old boy lost in the woods while hiking
in Colorado has prompted me to share a tragic story with other researchers.
JONATHAN BURNS and DAVID BURNS came to NE Pennsylvania in what is now Clifford in the year 1800. They were pioneers in the wilderness which was then the "Wild West".
It was a bright October Day a few years later when DAVID BURNS wanted to take his two daughters picking berries in the woods and he saw his little three year old only son, EBER BURNS, looking forlorn and asked him if he wanted to go along. He went along quickly even though he had no shoes. He pricked his feet almost immediately and started to cry and wanted to go home. His sister was told to bring him back to the house which was very close by. She brought him back to
where the path was plain and went back to her father and sister. They spent hours in the woods and when they got back, to their horror, little EBER BURNS had
never gotten home!
The word traveled quickly to the other pioneers near and far and a search party searched all night and the next day. DAVID BURNS searched for days afterward, not willing to believe what had happened to his little
boy.
Three weeks prior, they found one of their oxen's heads with no trace of its body near the house, obviously eaten by wolves, or lions... that had
obviously been EBER'S fate.
DAVID BURNS' wife died soon after the death of her
son. DAVID BURNS' remarried but never had any other boys.
JONATHAN BURNS was our ggggg grandpa and he had seven (7) sons. I have information on his sons and our line if you think you might have a connection.

family is probably Mennonite as several of their children continued in
the church.
