1000 AD is the present time era. It is a time of peace in the Kingdom and it is the time period that our main heros (Crono, Lucca, and Marle) orginate from.
The Millenial Fair is also on the go at this point in time and everyone from all over is geared up to celebrate the 400 year anniversary of the victory over the Mystics in 600 AD. Although everything seems peaceful, the Mystics still strongly hate the humans and are praying and chanting for Lavos to come and destroy them.
