Bonavista - Summer _ Fall 2005

Growing up in Bonavista, to me the arrival of the caplin always signified the start of summer. Although the caplin seem to be rolling on the beaches a little later in recent years, the children and adults still enjoy this annual event.

This young fellow helped me catch a delicious meal of caplin. Sorry I can't remember his name. Looks like he has a big one on the end of his line this time! Got

Another indication that summer has arrived is the appearance of the dandelions. To most people nowadays, dandelions are considered to be weeds but I still think of them as the first flowers of summer.Dandelions

Of course there are lots of other flowers growing wild around Bonavista.Wild Flowers

Many people still plant their own vegetables in small backyard gardens within the town.
